Valessira Briarbrand—known as “Vess” to most—earned her place in Emberhook Hall not through bloodline or training, but through sheer, undeniable presence. Born under a canopy of burning vines during a rare forest fire in the upper Murkrun, she was found as a child half-wild and laughing amidst ash. The Cudgel took her in, and she found purpose in the rhythm of delves, the thrill of danger, and the bond forged by shared scars. Vess has since become a celebrated firebrand in the Hall—known for hauling wounded delvers back from collapses with a grin on her face and singed braids in her wake. While she’s technically still “junior rank,” no one denies her weight when she speaks. She touches the brass hook before every delve—not for luck, but for respect. She’s not here to make history. She’s here to make damn sure everyone else lives to tell it.
