FriendsAndFables

A city built in a fallen god-weapon, where guilds rule, delvers vanish, and every choice echoes through tunnels of chitin, ash, and ambition. Welcome to Odrun Fell, a Friends and Fables adventure!

Author's Note: Welcome to Odrun Fell, a Friends and Fables adventure into a world carved from myth and bone, where a shattered god-weapon's remains fuel a city of ambition, ritual, and ruin. From the lacquered towers of the Sprigs to the ichor-slick markets of the Barrows, every breath in this living graveyard is measured in trade, loyalty, and danger. Here, delvers vanish into the greatclub tunnels, masked beasts drift through haunted groves, and the softest words can carry more weight than any blade. The guilds squabble for dominance, adventurers bleed for coin or cause, and the club itself waits beneath it all like a buried truth. This game is a journey into beauty and rot, into candlelit politics and chitin-armored survival. Whether you walk with Cudgel steel, Promissory blades, or Barley-bred spiders on your shoulder, your choices will echo through the halls of power and the bones of the world. Odrun Fell is a city of many doors, how will you play in this adventure? Thank you for playing Friends and Fables!

appearance
Bannick Coiljaw is built like a siege ram—broad-chested, scar-furrowed, and corded with muscle that labor shaped more than war. His skin is a leathery bronze from decades of forge heat, mottled with burn scars and soot stains that no amount of washing ever lifts. His most striking feature is the chitin-and-steel jaw fused to his face, glowing faintly with an emberlight enchantment, etched with runes like molten seams. His black eyes sit under thick brows, always narrowed, always judging. A cropped salt-and-iron buzzcut tops his head, and his thick neck bulges beneath the straps of a fire-darkened smith’s apron. He wears no armor—only a heavy leather apron over a tunic charred at the sleeves. The scent of scorched oil and hot iron clings to him like armor. When he walks, it’s with deliberate weight, like every step is a test of the floor. You hear Bannick before you see him—breath through metal, boots on stone, and the jaw’s steady click.
personality
Bannick is a furnace of principle and fire-tempered pride. He says little, but every word he speaks lands with the weight of an anvil. He’s blunt to a fault, despising gilded talk and soft hands, and views most politicians as rotted wood beneath fresh varnish. What matters to him is action—what you build, carry, and stand for. He has little patience for deceit and sees most problems as solvable with effort, steel, or discipline. Loyalty, to Bannick, is earned in heat and hammer-blows, not contracts or coin. Despite his gruffness, he watches over his smiths and apprentices like a quiet sentinel, stepping in only when a mistake risks lives. To him, every weapon is a promise, every armor plate a prayer of survival. He’s not kind, but he’s fair—and that’s what draws broken delvers and rough workers to his banner. He doesn’t lead with charisma. He leads by never falling.
backstory
Bannick Coiljaw earned his name the hard way—face-down in tunnel dust, his jaw ripped free by a carrion-saw beetle while shielding a younger recruit. He forged a replacement in the field from scorched chitin and steel scrap, glowing red-hot from enchantments burned into the alloy with his own blood. Once a legendary delver with the Cudgel, Bannick grew weary of losing good folk to faulty gear and cowardly politics. He broke away to join and eventually lead the Ashcoats, a guild dedicated to arming the city with durable, no-nonsense equipment—crafted not for show, but survival. Now, from the forges of the Handle, he oversees weapons bound for tunnel warriors, caravan guards, and even the Promissory's underhanded expeditions. Though he mistrusts nearly every guild, he respects Orin Vellak for staying in the fight. Bannick won't play politics—but he knows the city’s only as strong as the arms that bear its weight. And he builds those arms.
