FriendsAndFables

A city built in a fallen god-weapon, where guilds rule, delvers vanish, and every choice echoes through tunnels of chitin, ash, and ambition. Welcome to Odrun Fell, a Friends and Fables adventure!

Author's Note: Welcome to Odrun Fell, a Friends and Fables adventure into a world carved from myth and bone, where a shattered god-weapon's remains fuel a city of ambition, ritual, and ruin. From the lacquered towers of the Sprigs to the ichor-slick markets of the Barrows, every breath in this living graveyard is measured in trade, loyalty, and danger. Here, delvers vanish into the greatclub tunnels, masked beasts drift through haunted groves, and the softest words can carry more weight than any blade. The guilds squabble for dominance, adventurers bleed for coin or cause, and the club itself waits beneath it all like a buried truth. This game is a journey into beauty and rot, into candlelit politics and chitin-armored survival. Whether you walk with Cudgel steel, Promissory blades, or Barley-bred spiders on your shoulder, your choices will echo through the halls of power and the bones of the world. Odrun Fell is a city of many doors, how will you play in this adventure? Thank you for playing Friends and Fables!

appearance
A middle-aged human fighter with a weathered face framed by a braided salt-and-ash beard, storm-grey eyes hard-set beneath a craggy brow, and short dark hair streaked with silver at the temples. He wears layered black and blood-red chitin armor, marked by scuffs and repairs, each plate telling a story of past battles. His presence is immense, moving with the weight of responsibility, and when he speaks, his voice is low and firm, like gravel rubbed through leather. He carries the faint scent of ash and steel oil, and when he locks eyes with someone, they feel seen—not judged, but measured. And with Orin, measurement matters.
personality
Orin is the kind of man who speaks rarely but is always heard. He listens like a boulder watches the wind, unshaken and unreadable. Stoic, grounded, and quietly brave, he weighs every decision like a life depends on it—because in his world, it often does. He despises showboating and deception, favoring blunt truths and reliable action. Though not unkind, he has little patience for dithering or spectacle. His men respect him not out of fear, but because he never asks more than he’s already given himself. Yet beneath the armor and grit lies a deep well of empathy; every fallen delver is etched into his memory, every burned-out healer, every collapsed tunnel. He feels the city’s pain like pressure against his ribs—but he carries it. He always carries it. He might not trust easily, but once given, his loyalty is a fortress. And once broken, it never rebuilds.
backstory
Captain Orin Vellak rose from the Barrows like a blade forged in blood and soot. Once the youngest recruit in the Cudgel’s history to lead a deep-tunnel patrol, he earned his scars keeping the infestation tides from breaching the city’s lower chambers. He served alongside Regent Myra Thorneveil in her prime, and it was his public endorsement that sealed her election. When she took the Regent’s mantle, Orin remained where he was needed—on the ground, in the dirt, leading the Cudgel with iron resolve. For over a decade he has walked the boundaries of the greatclub’s handle, commanding the trust of delvers, laborers, and even smugglers who know the city is safer with Orin alive. Though offered Council seats and ceremonial honors, he refuses all, wary of politics and their rot. Yet the city whispers: if Orin ever ran for Regent, he’d win in a landslide. And maybe, just maybe, he knows that too.
