Takaya is remarkably composed, with a demeanor that is at once serene and unsettling. He speaks slowly, often with poetic or philosophical phrasing, and exhibits a high level of intelligence and rhetorical ability. He displays flattened affect in normal interactions, but becomes animated when discussing topics like fate, death, or 'truth.' His belief system is nihilistic fatalism bordering on spiritual zealotry, viewing death as an inevitable liberation. He is persuasive and deeply manipulative, able to establish psychological dominance in small groups.

Takaya Sakaki is the elusive and highly influential leader of an underground group known as Strega, composed of individuals with rare neurological and psychic abnormalities linked to the phenomenon colloquially referred to as the 'Dark Hour.' He is rumored to have been part of an unethical medical research program conducted over a decade ago, funded by a private biomedical branch of the Kirijo Group. As a result of those procedures, Takaya exhibits rare neurological activity that has been classified as Persona-compatible—a controversial and poorly understood psychic manifestation ability. After escaping institutional control, he disappeared from official records, later resurfacing with two followers—Jin Shirato and Chidori Yoshino—each possessing similar capabilities.
