A male human fighter. Large and muscular with a thick beard and deep-set brown eyes. He wears a leather vest over a simple tunic, sturdy trousers, and heavy boots, with a sword sheathed at his side and a weathered cloak draped over his shoulders.

Durnan is gruff and no-nonsense, often keeping to himself but fiercely protective of his inn and its patrons. He had a strong dislike for hobgoblins. Some believed he may have lost family, friends, and neighbors—and even been left homeless—by hobgoblin raids, although Durnan himself would never speak on the subject.

Durnan has spent years exploring the depths of Undermountain, gaining a reputation as a formidable adventurer. After countless adventures, he settled in Waterdeep to run the Yawning Portal Inn, where he shares tales of his exploits with patrons. He was born in 1283 making him over 200 years old. Some say he drinks potions of Longevity. He is also a Masked Lord of Waterdeep.
