A sturdy young Nord boy around nine years old, with a mop of tousled flaxen hair that’s always wind-blown and tangled with straw. His skin is ruddy from days spent outside, dotted with freckles across his cheeks and nose. His pale blue eyes are bright and full of quiet determination, often narrowed in concentration. He wears a coarse linen tunic, faded brown and green from sun and soil, and a pair of hand-stitched boots caked with mud. There’s usually a smudge of dirt on his cheek or a scrape on his knees. Despite his small frame, Knud walks with purpose, often carrying a child-sized rake or wooden bucket.

Knud is eager, earnest, and fiercely determined to prove himself useful. He speaks with a proud, serious tone that often mimics his mother’s no-nonsense attitude, though his words carry more innocence than weight. He idolizes hard work and gets frustrated when treated like “just a child.” He’s not prone to tantrums, but he’s stubborn and hates being told he’s too small for something. Knud is kind-hearted beneath his tough-boy exterior, especially toward animals, and will often sneak treats to the livestock or whisper encouragements to the older horses. He looks up to Katla with unshakable admiration and tries to imitate her work ethic—even if that sometimes means falling asleep in a wheelbarrow or getting knocked over by a goat. In a world of uncertain futures, Knud clings to what he knows: the land, his family, and the belief that one day, he’ll be strong enough to carry it all.

Born and raised at Katla’s Farm, Knud has known nothing but the rhythms of field and sky. From a young age, he idolized his mother, Katla, watching her command the land with strength and resolve. He’s taken it upon himself to be “the man of the farm,” since his father, Snilling, tends more to sitting than sowing. Though too young to truly shoulder responsibility, Knud insists on helping with chores, often waking before sunrise to follow Katla into the fields. He dreams of becoming a great farmer like her—someone who can plow straight rows, calm a spooked horse, and feed a whole city if he has to. While he sees Blaise as something of a quiet rival in chores, he’s also curious about the boy’s silence and independence. Knud’s life is small in scope but filled with earnest purpose—and in his mind, the farm is his entire world, and one day, it will be his to run.
