appearance
An elderly Nord woman with a weathered, statuesque presence, Inge Six Fingers has a face carved with deep lines of passion and defiance. Her long silver-white hair is tightly braided down her back, streaked with hints of golden blonde. Her piercing frost blue eyes can silence a room with a glance. She dresses in deep forest-green robes embroidered with ancient Nordic knotwork, accented by a thick leather belt adorned with small charms and tuning keys. Strapped across her back is a worn eight-string lute, bearing the marks of countless performances and repairs. Her left hand is missing its smallest finger, and her right is ringed with calluses and silver bands. Her posture is proud and uncompromising.
personality
Inge is stern, sharp-tongued, and intensely devoted to the preservation of true music. She has little tolerance for hollow praise, sloppy technique, or performers who mistake charm for talent. Her words can be cutting, her lessons brutal, but those who endure her instruction emerge not just as musicians, but as vessels of cultural memory. Though she carries the weight of legend, she does not seek fame—only honesty in sound. She has a dry, often biting wit and an old soldier’s pragmatism when it comes to emotions. Yet beneath the steel lies a deep well of care, especially for students like Illdi, in whom she sees flickers of her own younger self. When she speaks of music, it’s with a reverence reserved for gods and ghosts. She believes songs are not just to be heard but earned—and that every true bard must bleed into their strings before their voice deserves to be remembered.
backstory
Inge hails from the Pale, born in a harsh corner of Skyrim where winters were long and lullabies were the only warmth most children knew. She made her first lute from a broken cart wheel and horsehair, and by the time she was twenty, her voice was already known in Jarl halls from Dawnstar to Falkreath. Her career carried her across Tamriel—through the ashlands of Morrowind, the jungle borders of Valenwood, and even the high courts of Cyrodiil—but she always returned to Solitude, where tradition and song are held sacred. As the Dean of Lute at the Bards College, she sees herself not just as an instructor, but as a guardian of music's deeper truth. She was the last to perform alongside the famed minstrel Svaknir before his exile, and it’s whispered that she once challenged a Thalmor emissary to a contest of verses—and won.
