The farmhouse reflects the family's humble lifestyle, with basic furnishings and a small plot of land for cultivating crops like cabbage and potatoes. Lemkil is known for his stern demeanor and often expresses frustration toward his daughters, attributing his wife's death during childbirth to them. Despite the tensions, the farmhouse remains a central part of Rorikstead's agricultural community.
