backstory
Elrond, the Lord of Rivendell, was born in the First Age. Elrond is the son of Eärendil, and Elwing, a descendant of Lúthien, one of the greatest Elven heroines. His parentage links him to both Elven and human bloodlines.
During the First Age, Elrond and his brother Elros were caught up in the wars against Morgoth, the first Dark Lord. After the defeat of Morgoth, Elrond and his brother were given a choice: to embrace immortality as Elrond did, or to live as mortals, which Elros chose. Elrond became the Lord of Rivendell, a refuge and stronghold for Elves, Men, and other free peoples.
Elrond became renowned for his wisdom, healing abilities, and leadership. He played a key role in many important events, such as the defeat of Sauron during the War of the Last Alliance and the founding of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. He later became a mentor to Aragorn, guiding him in his destiny as the future King of Gondor and Arnor.
