Arwen Undómiel, daughter of Elrond and Celebrían, was born in Rivendell during the Third Age. The granddaughter of Galadriel and Celeborn, she grew up in Rivendell, a sanctuary of wisdom and beauty, alongside her father Elrond, her brothers Elladan and Elrohir. Her heritage made her a symbol of the Elves' long history, and her beauty and grace were legendary. However, Arwen's story is defined by her fateful meeting with Aragorn, the mortal heir of Isildur.
At the age of 2,700, Arwen met Aragorn, who was then a young ranger, during his visit to Rivendell. The two were immediately drawn to each other, but their love was complicated by Arwen’s immortality as an Elf and Aragorn’s mortal nature. Arwen was aware that she would live for many more ages, but Aragorn’s mortality meant that their love could only last for a short time, unless he succeeded in his quest to become king and unite the Free Peoples.
