backstory
The Witch-king of Angmar, also known as the Lord of the Nazgûl, is the leader of Sauron’s terrifying Ringwraiths. He was originally a Númenórean king who fell under Sauron’s influence and became one of the nine mortal men who received the Nine Rings of Power. Over time, the Witch-king’s humanity was lost, and he was transformed into a wraith-like being, entirely under Sauron’s control.
In the Third Age, the Witch-king became the ruler of Angmar, a kingdom in the northern reaches of Middle-earth. He waged a brutal war against the northern kingdom of Arnor, eventually leading to its fall. His reign in Angmar ended when the kingdom was destroyed by the forces of Gondor, Rohan, and their allies. He now resides in Minas Morgul.
