What was once a single city has now expanded to most of Faerun in this High Fantasy adventure of magic, technology, and secrets to uncover!

Now expanded and reimagined for deeper exploration and immersive play. Waterdeep: The City of Splendors is your main gateway to the other famous Sword Coast locations like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, the Moonsea Region, and even the distant reaches of the Outer Planes. While Waterdeep remains the heart of the experience, its surrounding territories are available for those bold enough to venture beyond the city walls. This adaptation builds upon official Forgotten Realms lore, but introduces both minor and major changes to support a more engaging and open-ended campaign. For example, the characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 are playable, but have been recontextualized to exist in Waterdeep rather than Baldur’s Gate. Content is designed for compatibility with Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a host of original plot hooks waiting to be uncovered across the city’s alleys, taverns, towers, and catacombs. You’re free to explore at your own pace, shape the world as you see fit, or lose yourself in the layered politics, mysteries, and magic of the world. Description

Peaktop Aerie crowns Mount Waterdeep, serving as the proud base of the city's renowned Griffon Cavalry. The Aerie's impressive structure offers breathtaking views of the sprawling city below and the shimmering sea beyond. Its sea-facing flank is fortified with eleven formidable triple-catapults, ready to unleash a barrage of rocks and flammable pots against any approaching threat. The air is filled with the sounds of griffons taking flight, their riders preparing for patrols that safeguard Waterdeep from above. This strategic location not only symbolizes the city's might but also stands as a testament to the bond between the cavalry and their majestic mounts.

Appearance

The Aerie is carved into the stone crown of the mountain, built from pale granite reinforced with dwarven masonry. Open-air roosts and arched landing platforms line the ridges, while barracks and armories nestle into the mountain’s hollowed peak. Catapult batteries face the sea, framed by wind-battered banners and sharp parapets. Griffons soar and dive through the mist, their calls echoing like thunder from the mountain’s edge.
