What was once a single city has now expanded to most of Faerun in this High Fantasy adventure of magic, technology, and secrets to uncover!

Now expanded and reimagined for deeper exploration and immersive play. Waterdeep: The City of Splendors is your main gateway to the other famous Sword Coast locations like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, the Moonsea Region, and even the distant reaches of the Outer Planes. While Waterdeep remains the heart of the experience, its surrounding territories are available for those bold enough to venture beyond the city walls. This adaptation builds upon official Forgotten Realms lore, but introduces both minor and major changes to support a more engaging and open-ended campaign. For example, the characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 are playable, but have been recontextualized to exist in Waterdeep rather than Baldur’s Gate. Content is designed for compatibility with Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a host of original plot hooks waiting to be uncovered across the city’s alleys, taverns, towers, and catacombs. You’re free to explore at your own pace, shape the world as you see fit, or lose yourself in the layered politics, mysteries, and magic of the world. Description

Guild of Surveyors and Cartographers occupies The Mapwright’s Archive, a tall, narrow tower in Castle Ward, its windows fitted with rotating brass lenses and sky-viewing crystals. The ground floor holds a rotating globe and detailed relief map of Waterdeep’s wards. The upper levels are climate-controlled scriptoriums filled with charting tables, ranging tools, and ink mixed from sapphire dust. Guild surveyors cross paths with magical geographers and legal registrars. Archive access is restricted by permit, and all maps are magically tagged. Disputes over territory or property require adjudication here, beneath vaulted ceilings charted with stars.

The Mapwright’s Archive rises like a quill-stroke in stone, its tall frame bristling with rotating brass lenses and sky-crystals. Inside, a glowing globe spins beside a relief map etched into the floor. Above, scriptoriums hum with quiet industry—ink-stained hands charting coastlines under vaulted ceilings painted with constellations. Every map glows faintly with magical sigils.
