What was once a single city has now expanded to most of Faerun in this High Fantasy adventure of magic, technology, and secrets to uncover!

Now expanded and reimagined for deeper exploration and immersive play. Waterdeep: The City of Splendors is your main gateway to the other famous Sword Coast locations like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, the Moonsea Region, and even the distant reaches of the Outer Planes. While Waterdeep remains the heart of the experience, its surrounding territories are available for those bold enough to venture beyond the city walls. This adaptation builds upon official Forgotten Realms lore, but introduces both minor and major changes to support a more engaging and open-ended campaign. For example, the characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 are playable, but have been recontextualized to exist in Waterdeep rather than Baldur’s Gate. Content is designed for compatibility with Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a host of original plot hooks waiting to be uncovered across the city’s alleys, taverns, towers, and catacombs. You’re free to explore at your own pace, shape the world as you see fit, or lose yourself in the layered politics, mysteries, and magic of the world. Description

Watcher’s Wharf sits under the quiet gaze of the Dock Ward Watchtower, a rare pocket of order in Waterdeep’s busiest quarter. The City Watch patrols here with regularity, keeping the worst of the Dock Ward’s chaos at bay. Merchant vessels, passenger ships, and private craft alike dock daily, offloading a steady stream of travelers, traders, and the curious. Crates clatter, gulls wheel overhead, and the scent of salt and spice hangs thick in the air. Runners shout destinations; sailors haggle for repairs. Whether bound for the city’s heart or setting sail for far coasts, all paths begin—or end—at Watcher’s Wharf.

Appearance

Watcher’s Wharf bustles beneath the sturdy, shadowed presence of the Dock Ward Watchtower. Solid wooden piers stretch into busy waters, crowded with vessels flying colorful sails. Weathered crates stack high along the docks, while ropes and nets litter the worn boards. Uniformed City Watch patrol steadily, contrasting sharply with shouting sailors and rushing porters. Lanterns glow warmly at dusk, illuminating the salt-streaked buildings, hanging signs, and narrow alleys that wind inland. Above, gulls circle and call, lending a constant, restless backdrop.
