Darrowmere Lake is a large freshwater lake in the southeast of the Western Plaguelands, part of the fallen kingdom of Lordaeron. It is one of the largest lakes in the Eastern Kingdoms. At its center lies the abandoned island town of Caer Darrow, once home to the House of Barov. Beneath the island rests Scholomance, a dark dungeon ruled by the Cult of the Damned and their undead minions. The lake connects to the Thondroril River in the north and the Darrowmere River in the south. During the Second War, many naval battles occurred here, mostly involving ships from the Proudmoore fleet. Grand Admiral Proudmoore once used these ships to transport Turalyon and Alleria's forces near Stratholme. Now under Scourge control, the lake's waters are corrupted and lifeless fish wash ashore daily. Aerie Peak overlooks the lake to the east, where cool breezes blow down from the Hinterlands, bringing fresh air to the blighted land.
