The Greymane Wall was built before the Third War by King Genn Greymane, as Gilneas withdrew from the Alliance over disputes regarding orc internment camp funding. Located between Silverpine Forest and the Gilnean peninsula, the wall symbolized Gilneas’ isolation. Though it protected the kingdom from the Scourge, it also sealed off refugees, who perished outside its gates. The wall worsened internal tensions, leading to the Northgate Rebellion, led by Lord Darius Crowley. After its suppression, Gilneas faced the worgen curse, spread after Greymane ordered Arugal to summon the beasts against the undead. Though initially effective, the worgen turned on Gilneans. The curse slowly infected the population. Crowley defied Greymane by aiding Jaina during the Third War. Years later, refugees fleeing Lordaeron were denied entry and many died outside the wall, some at the hands of Forsaken or worgen from Shadowfang Keep.
This enormous gray wall marks the boundary between Gilneas and the rest of Lordaeron. No guards stand at its battlements or man its gates — the wall seems dead. Nevertheless, refugees from the north camp in the wall's shadow, hope for succor.
