Morrowind is a province located in the northeastern part of Tamriel, home to the Dunmer (Dark Elves). It is a land of stark contrasts, featuring barren ashlands of Vvardenfell contrasted with the fertile farmlands of the Deshaan region. Dominating the landscape is Red Mountain, a massive volcano in the center of Vvardenfell, which has profoundly influenced the province's history and culture. The northwestern regions of Morrowind present a dramatic landscape. Ashlands stretch as far as the eye can see, with ashy windswept plains broken only by rocky outcroppings. The sky is often a hazy gray, filled with volcanic ash. Closer to the coast, rocky cliffs overlook the Inner Sea, while inland, bizarre, giant mushrooms dot the landscape, forming strange forests.
