Famed throughout history as both a fortress and a sacred site tied to the lineage of the Reman and Septim Empires, Sancre Tor was pivotal in Cyrodiil’s early conquests. During the Third Era, it became infamous for its subterranean prisons and crypts dedicated to the Interregnum war heroes. By 4E 201, the stronghold is but a shadow of its former grandeur—its ancient halls torn apart by the elements, looters, and unsettling rumors of restless spirits. Adventurers occasionally brave the treacherous passages, lured by tales of lost relics and stashes of Imperial artifacts hidden within crumbling vaults. Some believe that secret chambers are still sealed beneath the ruins, wards placed long ago to contain powerful enchantments or, perhaps, more malevolent forces best left forgotten.
