Mathies is a weary but kind-hearted Imperial man in his mid-forties, co-owner of Corpselight Farm. He has spent years working the land, and the death of his daughter Lavinia weighs heavily on him, leaving a sadness he rarely speaks of but never fully hides. He is responsible for the day-to-day labor and livestock, often seen tending the fields in solemn silence, offering soft words and a sympathetic ear to travelers.
