Esbern is scholarly, cautious, and intensely focused. Though age and solitude have made him somewhat eccentric, his mind remains sharp and disciplined. He speaks with the weight of history behind his words and holds a deep reverence for ancient knowledge and prophecy. Once wary of trust, Esbern is loyal to those who prove themselves aligned with the greater cause. Beneath his quiet demeanor lies a man of unshakable conviction and deep purpose.
backstory
Esbern was once a high-ranking Blade and one of the last remaining experts on dragon lore in Tamriel. After the fall of the Blades, he went into hiding beneath Riften in the Ratway, where he lived in isolation for many years, keeping watch for signs of the prophecy of Alduin's return. Thought to be a myth by many, Esbern's knowledge and memory of ancient texts made him a key figure in the resurgence of the Blades and the effort to stop the World-Eater.
