appearance
An aging Imperial with silver-streaked hair neatly combed back, dressed in well-maintained merchant's clothes and polished boots. He carries an iron dagger, a remnant of his past adventuring days. His upright posture and deliberate movements exude calm confidence, making visitors feel at ease. His museum, the House of Curiosities, is filled with oddities reflecting his eclectic tastes and storied past.
personality
Calixto presents himself as a cultured and affable gentleman, eager to share tales of his adventures and the curiosities he's collected. He offers guided tours of his museum, charming visitors with stories that blend fact and fiction. Beneath this veneer, however, lies a man consumed by grief and madness. His descent into necromancy reveals a willingness to cross moral boundaries, justifying heinous acts in the name of love and loss. Calixto's duality—a gracious host and a cold-blooded killer—serves as a chilling reminder of how obsession can erode one's humanity.
backstory
Once a globe-trotting adventurer, Calixto traveled Tamriel with his beloved sister, Lucilla, amassing a collection of rare artifacts. Their journeys were filled with wonder until tragedy struck with Lucilla's untimely death. Devastated, Calixto settled in Windhelm, opening the House of Curiosities to showcase their shared legacy. However, grief twisted his mind, leading him to delve into forbidden magics in a desperate attempt to resurrect his sister. His obsession with necromancy and flesh magic culminated in a series of gruesome murders in Windhelm, earning him the moniker 'The Butcher.' His crimes were eventually uncovered during the 'Blood on the Ice' investigation, where he was confronted and brought to justice.
