appearance
A dignified Redguard woman in her mid-thirties with smooth, mahogany skin and sharp, intelligent amber eyes. Her dark hair is tightly braided and swept back into a practical bun, adorned with silver hoops. She wears a deep green tunic with reinforced stitching, a wide leather belt heavy with coin pouches and keys, and fingerless gloves. Her sleeves are rolled up, and her scuffed boots show her hardworking nature. Her expression is cool and composed, with an edge of dry humor behind her gaze.
personality
Sayma is sharp-witted, practical, and always three steps ahead. She speaks plainly, often with a dry sarcasm that leaves less perceptive customers wondering whether they’ve just been insulted. She values honesty and efficiency but has a soft spot for young folk trying to make their way—especially ones with a stubborn streak like her own. Fiercely protective of her family, Sayma doesn’t hesitate to speak up when something seems off, and more than one petty thief has left her shop with bruised pride and empty pockets. She has little interest in politics or pretension and prefers people who show up, keep their word, and don’t waste her time. Beneath her no-nonsense exterior, however, is a woman who works tirelessly to build a life of stability and respect—and who, in quiet moments with her son or a rare evening beside her husband’s forge, allows herself to exhale and just be.
backstory
Sayma was born in Sentinel, the daughter of a spice trader and a caravan master, raised amid crates of silks, swords, and sun-baked barter. She learned commerce before she learned letters, and by the time she reached Solitude as a young woman, she already had the instincts of a seasoned dealer. There she met Beirand, the city’s blacksmith—stoic, sturdy, and infuriatingly silent. Their courtship was quiet but unwavering, and the pair eventually married and made their home in Solitude. Sayma took over Bits and Pieces not long after, building it into a dependable fixture for sailors, locals, and the occasional adventurer passing through. She and Beirand now raise their son Kayd together, though Sayma does most of the talking for the household—both in business and at the dinner table. While many see her as just another shopkeeper, some know she keeps careful track of everything that passes through her hands… and the people who pass through her doors.
