A lively Redguard boy of about nine years old, with warm cinnamon-toned skin and a round, expressive face that can shift from grinning mischief to furrowed concentration in an instant. His dark, curly hair is cut short for practicality, though it’s often tousled from running around the cobbled streets of Solitude. His eyes are a bright amber-brown, always darting from storefront to alley to passerby with unquenchable curiosity. He wears a red tunic stitched with simple patterns, scuffed at the knees and slightly frayed at the sleeves—a testament to his constant motion. A pair of worn leather shoes, barely tied properly, flap a little when he runs. His cheeks are usually flushed from excitement or exertion, and there’s often a faint smear of dirt across his brow or chin from whatever mischief he’s just narrowly avoided explaining.

Kayd is bold, curious, and endlessly talkative—a natural spark in a city too used to stoicism. He speaks with the rapid-fire cadence of someone who thinks faster than he can filter, and he’s always the first to suggest a shortcut, a prank, or a race across the ramparts. While confident and occasionally cheeky, he’s not cruel, and he shows genuine care for those close to him—especially Minette, whom he insists he’s “definitely not sweet on.” He idolizes adventurers and guards alike, often mimicking swordplay or giving dramatic retellings of things he barely witnessed. At home, he tests boundaries, but outside, he’s surprisingly observant—listening in on adult conversations with wide eyes and storing away stories like treasures. One day he might grow into a merchant like his mother, or a smith like his father… but for now, he’s just a streak of red darting through the streets, laughter echoing behind him.
backstory
Born and raised in Solitude, Kayd has only known the city’s high walls and busy streets as home. His mother, Sayma, runs Bits and Pieces with iron efficiency, and his father, Beirand, shapes steel with stoic resolve—so Kayd fills the silence between them with as much energy and noise as possible. Though he helps in the shop on occasion (grudgingly), most of his days are spent dashing between courtyards and stairways with his best friend, Minette Vinius. The guards know his name, as do most vendors, and while he’s never truly caused trouble, he’s certainly tested the patience of every adult on Castle Dour’s block. He dreams of adventure beyond Solitude's gates, but for now, his world is one of games, dares, and the occasional eavesdropped secret he doesn’t fully understand but will definitely repeat later.
