appearance
A towering Redguard with a physique carved from years of brutal labor and battlefield survival. His skin is dark bronze, sun-worn and scarred, each mark a silent testimony to a life of violence endured and inflicted. His head is shaved clean, and his sharp, angular features give him a severe, imposing look—only emphasized by his perpetual frown and the cold intensity in his deep brown eyes. He wears heavy steel armor that bears the scuffs and dents of countless executions and prison brawls, with a thick red sash tied around his waist like a bloodied reminder of his duties. His axe, massive and well-worn, is rarely more than an arm’s reach away—its blade kept razor-sharp not for glory, but for efficiency. Ahtar’s movements are heavy and deliberate, like a man always prepared to cut something—or someone—down.
personality
Ahtar is blunt, humorless, and quietly principled. He speaks in a gravelly, clipped tone, never wasting breath on diplomacy or pretense. Though feared for his role and his size, he’s not cruel—just ruthlessly efficient. He respects strength, clarity, and directness, and has little patience for cowardice, hypocrisy, or courtly games. Despite his grim profession, Ahtar is not without a sense of justice; he takes no pleasure in killing, but he takes pride in doing it right. Beneath his stoic surface is a man hardened by survival, one who’s learned to keep his emotions locked behind iron doors—but who still, in rare moments, shows quiet acts of mercy no one expects. He doesn’t seek redemption or praise. He seeks order. And in a world where blades often speak louder than oaths, Ahtar ensures his blade speaks last.
backstory
Born in Hammerfell, Ahtar spent much of his early life as a mercenary before settling in Solitude during the later years of the Great War. He was brought into the city’s service as a prison enforcer, his brutality balanced by an unshakable sense of duty. Over time, he rose to the position of Castle Dour’s warden and public executioner, a role he took on without hesitation. Though his work earns him fear more than respect, Ahtar considers it a job that someone has to do—better done cleanly and quickly than dragged out with spectacle. He keeps mostly to himself, though he has a known fondness for the Winking Skeever’s food and an old, complicated friendship with a sailor long gone. He’s rumored to be the only person in Solitude who never flinched during Roggvir’s execution—and perhaps the only one who didn’t care much about the politics behind it.
