appearance
A small, wiry Breton boy no older than ten, with tousled brown hair that constantly falls into his eyes and a face smudged with dirt. His fair skin is sun-worn and freckled across the bridge of his nose and cheeks. He wears simple, rough-spun linen and patched wool clothes that are a little too big in the sleeves, and his scuffed boots are barely holding together with twine. His fingers are stained with hay, soil, and stable muck, and his soft gray-blue eyes are tired but alert, always scanning his surroundings.
personality
Blaise is quiet, independent, and fiercely self-reliant—traits born of necessity, not nature. He speaks with a soft, even tone and is cautious around strangers, always waiting to see if kindness is genuine or fleeting. While polite, he’s not easily fooled, and his guarded demeanor makes him seem older than his years. Beneath the grit and weariness, however, lies a boy with a gentle spirit and a longing for safety, warmth, and something—someone—to call his own. He loves animals, especially horses, and treats them with more care than he receives himself. He doesn’t ask for help, but he remembers those who offer it. To most, he’s just the boy behind the stable. But for those who take the time to notice, Blaise is a spark waiting for shelter—a quiet life, a warm bed, and the chance to simply be a child.
backstory
Blaise was left at Katla’s Farm as a small child, either orphaned or abandoned—he never says which, and no one asks anymore. He was taken in more as a laborer than a son, tasked with tending the horses, hauling feed, and doing the work no one else wanted. Though not treated cruelly, he’s overlooked and overworked, a child held to the expectations of a grown man. He dreams of a life beyond the farm, of being adopted by someone who might treat him as more than just another pair of hands, but those dreams are softened by disappointment and the harshness of reality. Despite his situation, he rarely complains and never asks for charity. He’s known to the guards at the Solitude stables and to a few kind-hearted souls in the marketplace, but for the most part, Blaise remains just another quiet figure on the edge of someone else’s land.
