appearance
A broad-shouldered, thick-set Nord man in his early forties with a muscular build from decades at the forge. His arms are like braided rope, soot-stained and slick with sweat. He has tanned, leather-tough skin, a square face streaked with ash, and a short, utilitarian beard framing his strong jaw. His chestnut-brown hair is cropped close, and his cool steel-blue eyes are focused and steady. He wears a heavy leather apron over a scorched linen shirt and thick boots hardened by years of cinders and iron shavings. His worn hammer is always within arm’s reach.
personality
Beirand is quiet, even-tempered, and unwaveringly dependable. He speaks in a low, gravelly voice, often without looking up from his work, and tends to say more with a grunt or a nod than with full sentences. Though he has the stoicism typical of many Nords, there's a warmth buried beneath it—especially when speaking of his son or joking dryly with longtime customers. He has little tolerance for laziness or idle talk and prefers action to promises. While not overtly political, he’s a practical man who values order and stability over rebellion and rhetoric. He may not speak often, but when he does, people listen—because when Beirand gives his word, it’s as solid as the steel he forges. To many, he is the anvil Solitude leans on—quiet, steady, and unshakable.
backstory
Beirand was born and raised in Solitude, the son of a smith who once outfitted soldiers for the Great War. Trained from youth in the art of shaping steel, Beirand inherited both his father’s trade and his sense of pride in honest, durable craftsmanship. He now serves as Solitude’s official blacksmith, responsible for maintaining the city guard’s weapons and armor and supplying equipment for the Imperial Legion stationed at Castle Dour. He is deeply respected, not just for his skill, but for his reliability and no-nonsense work ethic. He runs the smithy with the assistance of Heimvar, a loyal if sometimes slow-witted apprentice, and maintains strong ties to the Legion—not out of political zeal, but because he believes Skyrim needs structure, and the Empire still offers it. At home, he is the grounding force in a family of stronger voices: his sharp-tongued wife, Sayma, and their energetic son, Kayd, who is constantly trying to “help” around the forge.
