appearance
A wiry Nord in his late thirties with a leaner build than his brother, dirty blond hair cut short and swept back, sharp cheekbones, and ice-blue eyes that are alert and calculating. He wears practical lumberjack garb: a stained wool shirt rolled at the sleeves, patched trousers, and boots held together with fresh laces. His skin is pale beneath layers of grime and sawdust, and his fingers are stained from sap and calloused from axe handles.
personality
Lodvar is practical, sharp-tongued, and perpetually on edge. He speaks with quick, clipped frustration, especially when Horgeir is nearby, and carries the tone of a man tired of being the only one trying. He’s bitter about their situation but not without hope—if only things could change, he tells himself, again and again. Though he hides it well, Lodvar is deeply resentful of Olda, suspecting more than he dares say aloud, and he’s constantly torn between loyalty to his brother and the need to escape the drowning weight of their household. He doesn’t drink, doesn’t laugh often, and doesn’t trust easy—but he works harder than anyone in town and genuinely believes the mill could thrive… just not like this. To Dragon Bridge, Lodvar is the quiet one behind the axe—but he’s also the last man standing between the Lylvieve timber name and complete ruin.
backstory
Lodvar came to live with Horgeir years ago after a failed business venture in Dawnstar left him broke and restless. Since then, he’s thrown himself into the day-to-day work at the Dragon Bridge mill, hoping to turn things around for both the family and himself. He sees the mill as a lifeline—one that’s slowly fraying under his brother’s drunken grip and poor management. While Horgeir wallows and drinks, Lodvar does his best to pick up the slack: chasing down missed deliveries, patching old equipment, and smoothing over things with the few clients they haven’t scared off. He constantly disputes Horgeir’s oblivious claims that the mill is 'doing fine,' and is growing more desperate as their debts mount and rumors of repossession circulate. He’s not ready to give up yet—but he’s getting close.
