appearance
A middle-aged Nord woman with ash-blonde hair streaked with gray, tied back in a tight bun. She has a weathered face with piercing blue eyes and a mouth set in a near-permanent expression of mild exasperation. Her fair skin is flushed from years spent near a hot stove, and she is broad-shouldered and sturdy. She wears a practical linen dress layered with an apron stained from stew and spilled mead, with a thick key ring hanging from her belt and her sleeves always rolled up, ready for work.
personality
Faida is sharp, efficient, and unflinchingly direct. She speaks with clarity, confidence, and the kind of no-nonsense tone that immediately quiets drunks and deters complainers. Though she doesn’t coddle, she does care—offering advice, meals, or even a soft word when she believes it’s earned. She respects hard work and loyalty, and has little patience for laziness or self-pity. She keeps a close eye on everything that happens in the tavern and often knows more about village goings-on than the guards. Beneath her stern exterior lies a dry wit and a deeply buried softness she rarely shows. To most, Faida is the rock of Dragon Bridge—reliable, immovable, and the quiet heart of a village that depends on her more than they admit. The Four Shields may be her business, but it’s also her stronghold—and she’ll keep it running, clean, and safe, no matter what storms roll through.
backstory
Faida inherited the Four Shields Tavern from her late husband, a soldier-turned-innkeeper who died in a skirmish not long after the Great War. Rather than sell the place or remarry, Faida rolled up her sleeves and made the inn her own—tightening its books, refining its meals, and commanding her staff with the precision of a drill captain. Under her leadership, the inn became a cornerstone of Dragon Bridge: a warm hearth for travelers, a gathering place for villagers, and a place where rumors often begin—and sometimes end. Though she rarely speaks of her past, those who know her well say she grew up around soldiers and learned early how to spot lies, size up danger, and manage a room full of restless men with nothing more than a raised eyebrow. Now, she’s grooming Julienne Lylvieve as a potential successor—though Faida insists she has no plans to retire "until the Divines drag me out feet-first."
