appearance
A wiry Nord girl around ten years old with a constant scowl etched into her freckled face. Her straw-blonde hair is cropped unevenly, usually tangled and windblown, and her pale skin is often smudged with dirt from the fields. Her slate-blue eyes, sharp and always narrowed, carry a mix of frustration, suspicion, and barely restrained bitterness. She wears a faded green dress that’s been patched more times than it’s worth, the hem frayed and uneven. Her arms are usually crossed, her jaw tight, and her body tense, as though expecting the world to swing at her—and ready to swing back.
personality
Britte is angry, defensive, and emotionally wounded far beyond her years. She speaks with a sneer, her voice quick and biting, and rarely misses a chance to insult or dismiss others—especially her sister. She is deeply insecure, though she’d never admit it, and lashes out as a means of control in a world where she otherwise has none. Despite her behavior, Britte isn’t heartless—she’s scared, hardened by neglect, and desperate for some form of power or attention. Underneath her cruelty is a child who has never felt safe, never felt loved, and doesn’t know how to ask for either. She’s capable of change, of kindness even—but only if someone breaks the cycle she’s trapped in. For now, Britte is a storm in a little girl’s body, raised in resentment and surviving by turning her pain into sharp edges.
backstory
Britte was born in Rorikstead alongside her twin sister, Sissel, under tragic circumstances—her mother died in childbirth, and their father, Lemkil, never forgave them for it. From the moment they could walk, Britte and Sissel were burdened with the farm’s chores and their father’s cruelty, though Britte—louder, tougher, and more confrontational—learned early on that the only way to survive was to fight back. Not strong enough to challenge Lemkil directly, Britte redirected her pain and rage toward her sister, who became an easy target with her silence and strange ways. She mocks and bullies Sissel relentlessly, not out of hatred, but because Sissel represents everything Britte refuses to let herself become—quiet, afraid, and alone. In a life that feels hopeless and cold, cruelty has become Britte’s armor, and Sissel, unfortunately, her scapegoat.
