appearance
A gaunt, wiry Nord man in his late forties with sun-scarred skin and long, unkempt blond hair. His face is drawn tight with bitterness, featuring a deep frown and cold, tired, hollow pale blue eyes. He wears a rough-spun shirt with rolled-up sleeves, a dirt-streaked apron, and cracked leather boots. His hands are always busy with farm work, but his posture and gait speak of exhaustion rather than pride.
personality
Lemkil is cold, spiteful, and deeply embittered. He speaks in gruff, dismissive tones, often laced with sarcasm or blame. He keeps to himself, not out of shyness, but because he no longer sees the point in conversation unless it’s about crops or debt. His treatment of his daughters is harsh and unapologetic—calling them “useless” or “cursed” when they fail to meet his impossible expectations. Though he puts on the face of a hardworking father, he does nothing to hide his disdain for the life he’s been left with. Still, beneath the layers of bitterness lies a grief too immense for him to face head-on. Lemkil isn’t evil—just shattered, and too proud to rebuild himself. The tragedy is not that he lost his wife, but that he never let go of the day she died, dragging his daughters down into the same well of unspoken sorrow.
backstory
Lemkil once had the makings of a decent farmer and family man. But when his wife died during childbirth, something in him broke—and it never healed. Left alone to raise twin daughters, Britte and Sissel, Lemkil didn’t see innocent children. He saw a living reminder of what he’d lost. Rather than love them, he shut them out, burying himself in the farm work and letting grief fester into resentment. Over the years, his anger hardened into a cruel detachment. He refuses to speak of his late wife, and dismisses his daughters' needs with scorn or silence. To the people of Rorikstead, Lemkil is just another tired farmer with a bad temper. But those who’ve seen the way he treats his girls know there’s more than weariness behind his eyes—there’s a man hollowed out by pain, too proud or broken to admit it.
