appearance
A lean, soft-spoken Breton in his late twenties with pale, freckled skin and a thoughtful face. He has a slightly stooped posture, short tousled chestnut hair, and sharp gray eyes that are cautious and observant. He wears a simple merchant’s tunic in earth tones, with sleeves rolled to the elbow, and a belt pouch that jingles faintly with coin and keys. A faint scar runs along his chin, mostly hidden by stubble, and his voice carries a clipped tone, as if often interrupted.
personality
Imedhnain is reserved, intelligent, and quietly observant. He speaks with precision, usually after thinking twice, and avoids conflict with practiced skill. Though not cold, he tends to keep emotional distance from others, especially in public. He carries a faint air of nervousness, particularly when Cosnach's name comes up, and has little patience for idle chatter. He believes in order, trade, and the slow-building security that gold and good records provide. Yet beneath his careful exterior lies a streak of guilt—over Cosnach, over the city’s corruption, and over his own occasional wish that Lisbet might simply disappear so he could finally step out from under her shadow. Imedhnain is not a villain, nor a hero—he’s a man trying to navigate a city of stone with his name, his job, and his dignity intact. Whether he’ll keep them all remains to be seen.
backstory
Imedhnain was born in Markarth to a modest Breton family that lived in the shadows of both stone and status. As a cousin of Cosnach—a drunken ex-pit fighter turned layabout—Imedhnain spent much of his youth trying to distance himself from the reputation of his rougher kin. While Cosnach turned to drink and brawling, Imedhnain pursued stability, eventually earning a clerk’s position at Arnleif and Sons Trading Company. He quickly gained the trust of Lisbet, the shop’s owner, through a combination of reliability and discretion. Though he avoids the spotlight, Imedhnain is deeply embedded in the business and, should anything happen to Lisbet, is next in line to inherit the operation—something he knows, but never speaks of aloud. Whether this is out of loyalty or quiet ambition remains unclear.
