appearance
A proud Nord woman in her late thirties with pale, freckled skin and auburn hair pulled into a no-nonsense bun. Her storm-gray eyes are alert and impatient, always flicking from customer to stock. She wears a clean but worn merchant’s dress in dark blue and gold, with a bronze brooch bearing the emblem of Dibella pinned discreetly near her collar. Her posture is straight, her voice clipped, and her expression rarely soft.
personality
Lisbet is shrewd, focused, and unflinchingly pragmatic. She speaks with the clipped confidence of someone used to getting to the point and rarely tolerates nonsense. Though not unkind, she tends to be impatient and blunt, especially when dealing with bureaucrats or “heroes” who show up expecting gratitude without earning it. Her grief over her husband’s death is buried deep under layers of bookkeeping and stubborn resolve—she doesn’t talk about him, but every decision she makes carries the weight of what they built together. She has no tolerance for thieves, Forsworn, or excuses, and though she operates within the law, her moral compass bends when coin or survival is involved. Despite the hardships, Lisbet remains one of the few merchants in Markarth still standing—by grit, by spite, and by sheer refusal to be another forgotten name swallowed by the stone.
backstory
Lisbet inherited the Arnleif and Sons Trading Company after her husband passed away suddenly—some whisper from sickness, others say something more suspicious—but Lisbet has never dignified the rumors. She took control of the store without hesitation, determined to keep the business afloat in a city more interested in silver veins and stone walls than the lives of its common merchants. Since then, she has battled rising prices, dwindling supplies, and an increasingly dangerous road network plagued by Forsworn attacks. One such ambush claimed a valuable shipment, including a carved Statue of Dibella meant to be the centerpiece of a new trading deal with a priestess delegation. Without it, her financial stability teeters, and with it, the legacy of the store she fought to maintain. She works tirelessly to salvage the company’s reputation and keep her employees paid—even if it means swallowing her pride and asking outsiders for help.
