appearance
A wiry, balding Nord man in his early fifties with thinning blond hair and deep crow’s feet. His bright blue eyes dart around, constantly calculating and anticipating. He has a crooked nose from an old barfight and a disarming yet smug smile. He wears a patched but neat tavernkeeper’s doublet, a stained apron, and has a wooden tankard hooked to his belt. His voice is nasal and carries across the inn, part greeting, part performance.
personality
Kleppr is loud, affable, and relentlessly optimistic—even when he shouldn’t be. He talks too much, laughs at his own jokes, and has a knack for saying the wrong thing at the worst time. Still, he means well and wants everyone under his roof to feel welcome… even if that sometimes includes doing business with shady guests or looking the other way when the Silver-Bloods flex their muscle. His relationship with Frabbi is full of public spats and private reconciliations—he plays the fool, she plays the iron wall, and together they somehow make it work. Kleppr fancies himself a people person, though few would call him discreet or subtle. But in a city as harsh and cold as Markarth, Kleppr is something rare: a man who tries to keep things light, even if the stone around him is always closing in.
backstory
Kleppr inherited the day-to-day management of the Silver-Blood Inn from his uncle decades ago, and he's been running it ever since—though most locals would say it’s Frabbi who really keeps the place standing. Despite that, Kleppr considers himself the heart of the inn, and fancies himself a master of customer service, even if his over-eagerness and constant chatter often grate on patrons’ nerves. He takes pride in surviving the Silver-Bloods’ looming presence while managing to avoid their wrath—or perhaps more accurately, their interest. He dotes on his daughter Hroki, tolerates his quieter son Hreinn, and genuinely believes that if people would just lighten up and laugh a little, the world—and his inn—would be better for it.
