appearance
A dignified Nord woman in her early fifties with long, pale blonde hair streaked with silver, woven into an intricate crown braid adorned with golden clasps shaped like rosebuds. Her fair skin is lined from years of contemplative smiles, and her sea-gray eyes are sharp and knowing. She wears flowing, deep crimson robes of Dibella’s high clergy, embroidered with golden threads in the shapes of vines and blossoms, and carries a ceremonial staff topped with a heart-shaped gem.
personality
Hamal is calm, composed, and deeply principled, exuding a quiet but immovable strength. She speaks with clarity and warmth, though there is always weight behind her words, as if she’s considering both the heart and the consequence of every conversation. She expects obedience from her priestesses, but not without understanding—discipline tempered with compassion. Hamal believes Dibella's teachings are not simply about beauty and pleasure, but about the divine harmony found in love, truth, and devotion. To those outside the faith, she can appear aloof or overly formal, but those who serve under her know she watches over them with a fierce, maternal protectiveness. While some may mistake her poise for softness, Hamal is not afraid to confront corruption, defiance, or danger to the temple. She is the still heart of the temple’s flame, its unwavering center—respected, revered, and utterly devoted to her goddess.
backstory
Hamal was born and raised within the walls of the Temple of Dibella in Markarth, chosen at a young age for the priesthood and trained under the guidance of her predecessors. She was a devoted novice, devout but inquisitive, and over time, her clarity of thought, emotional insight, and spiritual conviction set her apart. Upon the death of the former high priestess, Hamal was named “The Mother”, the highest title within the temple, and assumed stewardship of both the faith and the sanctuary. It is her duty to guide the priestesses, maintain the rites of Dibella, and oversee the sacred choosing of the Sybil of Dibella, a process she treats with utmost reverence. Though she rarely ventures beyond the Inner Sanctum, her presence is felt throughout the temple as both a spiritual guide and stern protector of tradition.
