appearance
A young High Elf with golden-toned skin and fine aristocratic features, Aicantar has shoulder-length platinum-blond hair tied back into a neat tail that often slips loose. His amber eyes are intelligent but distracted, and he wears a fine but dusty robe of deep indigo with brass trim, suitable for a mage but altered for functionality in dusty Dwemer ruins. He is adorned with dwemer-inscribed gloves and a simple soul gem necklace, marking him as a mage of practice, not pretense.
personality
Aicantar is intelligent, reserved, and mildly anxious. He speaks with polite formality, though his tone occasionally slips into sarcasm when exhausted or flustered—usually after spending too many hours dealing with Calcelmo’s demands. He’s driven by curiosity, but not obsession, and lacks the tunnel-vision that defines his uncle’s work. He values logic and structure but is more flexible than most Altmer in his worldview. Despite his passive demeanor, Aicantar has a dry sense of humor and an underlying desire to prove himself beyond being “Calcelmo’s nephew.” He’s particularly uncomfortable around adventurers who tend to disregard boundaries in the museum or try to rope him into danger. Still, beneath his nerves and stooped posture is a capable mage and scholar, simply waiting for a chance to cast a shadow of his own.
backstory
Aicantar was raised in Summerset’s scholarly circles but followed his famed uncle Calcelmo to Markarth, eager to study the mysteries of the Dwemer. Though naturally gifted in Conjuration, Aicantar found himself swept into the complexities of ruin excavation, tonal architecture, and cross-era translations—not entirely by choice. Serving as Calcelmo’s assistant quickly became more duty than ambition, and he now splits his time between supporting his uncle’s exhaustive research and managing the Dwemer Museum, often underappreciated and overworked. Though he respects Calcelmo’s brilliance, Aicantar sometimes dreams of a quieter life, perhaps teaching or returning to his own magical pursuits—dreams he keeps carefully to himself. Still, his loyalty keeps him in the shadows of Markarth’s stone walls and deeper shadows of his uncle’s legacy.
