appearance
A broad-shouldered Orc blacksmith in his early fifties, with deep olive green skin darkened by soot and smoke. His powerful frame is thick with muscle, and his tusks, chipped but strong, jut from beneath a tightly trimmed beard flecked with gray. His dark, steady eyes are keenly observant, always scanning metal, flame, or the faces of those who enter the forge. He wears a heavy blacksmith’s apron over a sleeveless tunic, exposing thick, burn-scarred arms. His hair is pulled back in a short, functional braid, and he has a low, gruff voice that is respectful when addressing those who’ve earned it.
personality
Moth is reserved, principled, and quietly proud. He doesn’t boast, but every hammer strike rings with the confidence of someone who knows exactly what he’s worth. He values quality over speed, silence over bluster, and loyalty above all else. Unlike many Orcs, Moth walks a fine line between traditional strength and refined craftsmanship, seeing the forge not just as labor, but as legacy. He rarely speaks of his family, though there’s a deep bond with Ghorza—one forged through shared hardship and mutual respect. He holds no illusions about the city’s corruption but remains committed to his craft and to the Jarl who entrusted him with it. To those who speak with him, Moth gro-Bagol may seem like just another smith—but to those who understand the value of mastery, he is the quiet flame behind Markarth’s blade.
backstory
Moth is the older brother of Ghorza gra-Bagol, though the two took different paths in the art of smithing. While Ghorza works in the open-air forge for Markarth’s common folk and adventurers, Moth earned his station through relentless discipline and unmatched skill, rising to become Jarl Igmund’s personal blacksmith. Working deep within Understone Keep, he maintains the Jarl’s weapons, royal armor, and ceremonial gear—each piece forged with the precision and patience of a master. Moth has little use for politics but respects Jarl Igmund’s steady leadership and values the stability his position provides. Though his family roots lie in Orsinium, Moth considers the stone of Markarth his home and the heat of its forge his true legacy.
