appearance
A young Imperial man in his late teens with a lean, wiry build and olive-toned skin often smudged with ash or grease. He has short, dark brown hair that sticks up in tufts and wide hazel eyes that dart constantly. He wears a soot-stained apprentice’s tunic that hangs loosely on him, paired with heavy gloves that he hasn’t broken in yet. His posture is slightly hunched, reflecting his nervous energy and anticipation of a scolding.
personality
Tacitus is anxious, well-meaning, and constantly overwhelmed. He speaks quickly, sometimes tripping over his words, especially when trying to explain why something just exploded or fell apart. He’s eager to please and full of questions—some smart, some painfully obvious—and tends to overthink everything. But beneath the stammering and self-doubt is a core of surprising resilience. He may complain about the heat, the noise, or Ghorza’s sharp tongue, but he never walks away. He respects her deeply, even if he fears her just a little more. Tacitus is a work in progress—nervous, awkward, but slowly hardening, like raw iron in a fire he hasn’t quite learned to control. One day, he might just forge something worth keeping. Until then… he’s probably hammering too hard. Again.
backstory
Born in Cyrodiil, Tacitus was sent to Markarth to learn a “real trade,” his family hoping that blacksmithing would toughen him up and earn him a stable living. Unfortunately for Tacitus, that trade came under the iron tutelage of Ghorza gra-Bagol, whose standards are as high as her patience is low. Though he struggles to keep up, Tacitus hasn’t quit—despite repeated failures, scorched eyebrows, and the occasional broken blade. He knows he’s not naturally gifted, but he wants to be better. He may not be the next legendary smith, but he shows up every morning, tools in hand and ready to try again. The forge is a trial by fire, and Tacitus is still in the burning stage.
