appearance
A grizzled Nord vampire with pale, grayish skin drawn tight over sinew and bone, Rargal Thrallmaster has a cruel sneer and a network of faded scars covering his arms and neck. His once-brown hair is a greasy, receding tangle tied back with leather, and his sunken red eyes glint with weary malice. He wears spiked leather armor patched with mismatched pieces, stained with old blood, and carries a barbed whip coiled at his side and a cruel-looking dagger close at hand.
personality
Rargal is harsh, domineering, and utterly devoid of empathy. He speaks in a low, gravelly voice that rarely rises in volume—but every word carries the weight of violence behind it. He treats mortals as livestock and views even lesser vampires with thinly veiled disdain. His loyalty to Lord Harkon is based more on shared cruelty than ideology—he respects power and fears nothing else. While many in Volkihar Keep cloak their savagery in silk and ceremony, Rargal revels in it openly, seeing his role as necessary, even righteous. He believes suffering breeds discipline, and that mercy is a poison. Though few enjoy his company, none question his effectiveness. Rargal is the hidden hand that keeps Castle Volkihar running—bloody, unglorified, and ever watching for the next piece of meat to break in.
backstory
Before undeath, Rargal was a slaver and pitmaster in the harsh fringes of eastern Skyrim, notorious for breaking the wills of prisoners and pit fighters with brutal efficiency. When he was eventually captured and sentenced to death, a traveling vampire offered him a darker form of freedom—one he accepted without hesitation. Reborn into the Volkihar Clan, Rargal was given dominion over the cattle pens and thralls of Castle Volkihar—a role he took to with disturbing ease. He manages the feeding stock, disciplines insubordinate servants, and ensures the blood supply flows without complication. To the other vampires, Rargal is useful. To the cattle and lowblood thralls, he is a nightmare.
