97th St Greenmarket
Year-round farmer's market with various farm & small batch food producers. This is the healthiest of foods one can find in this area.
Best Western
Unpretentious, somewhat clean, still has its recognizable signage, and offers breakfast. It's heavily outdated, but has heavily fortified entrances. The lobby has visible surveillance systems in place, like cameras embedded in the walls and ceiling, and a station for scanning guest IDs with a high-tech device that tracks everyone’s movements. The walls also have government-issued propaganda advertising compliance, the benefits of cooperation with the New World Order, and advertisements for mutants’ special abilities, all presented as part of a “better future.” A varied mix of normal humans and mutants stay at the Best Western, causing some subtle tension.
Bridges General
A store nestled in the heart of a pristine, fortified enclave, exuding an aura of exclusivity. Its shelves stocked with high-end goods: rare, genetically-enhanced produce, crafted by a mix of advanced technology and natural manipulation, alongside luxury items, imported from remnants of the old world. Every item is meticulously curated for its utility. The store has tight security and high tech surveillance to reassure its customers that they are protected from the outside world. The assortment of adventuring gear and artisan's tools are of the best quality. The marble floors cast a reflection of everything from the nutrient-rich supplements to the designer clothing. Items like healing salves from biotechnical farms, preserved exotic meats from mutated beasts, and antidotes to the strange toxins permeate the air. The store’s staff might harbor secrets—unseen allies for the underground resistance, or even spies for the oppressive regime, blending seamlessly into the well-heeled crowd.
Brooklyn Blacksmith, Leathers, & Fiberworks
Not necessarily a part of a resistance but more of a neutral faction, Brooklyn's only blacksmith is a mecca for crafting weapons for self-defense or for guerilla warfare. Hidden away amongst the decay of the city, it is only by chance or by referral in which someone may find themselves here. Because plants have mutated to produce resilient fibers that could be used for armor, apex predators have claws, teeth, and bone sharper & stronger than some metals, and the need to develop a profound understanding of how to survive in this mutated world, this blacksmith is crucial to the current ecosystem of Brooklyn.
Carnivorous Ferns
Giant ferns now have fronds that are capable of snapping shut like jaws. These plants wait motionless, only to lash out when a living creature stumbles too close. Their fronds have sharp, tooth-like serrations and an acidic coating that quickly begins to digest whatever it ensnares. Despite their deadly nature, the digestive acids or enzymes secreted by the carnivorous ferns are of interest for medical applications, particularly in wound care or burn treatments. Similar enzymes are used in some medical settings to remove dead tissue from burns or chronic wounds.
Central Park
Sprawling park with pedestrian paths & ballfields, plus a zoo, carousel, boat rentals & a reservoir. It has undergone some changes and upgrades across the decades, but still serves as a spot for Manhattan residents to enjoy some outdoorsy activities. Those that are well informed know of its more shadowy areas where illicit activity can be found.
Corona Inn
This hotel is fairly clean and what you see is what you get. It has become straightforward in its approach to guest services. If you stay here, you are made aware of the possibility that the world outside will sometimes find it's way in. With Queens being a safer place to live, all things considered, this hotel provides respite and a continental breakfast to those that decide to stay here.
Dream Inn
A far cry from what this swanky hotel used to be, the Dream Inn has become a fortress more than an inn. Still, the beds are warm and the food is quite good. The rates are low, but that is because the owner requires that everyone working and staying at the Dream Inn participate in the protection of the establishment. All people within the building are given massively discounted rates with the stipulation that they help take on any confrontation that attempts to breach it's walls. You may find rest as long as you work with the other tenants, but you'll also have a chance of losing your life if you do not fight well.
Fillmore's Tavern
This alehouse is built in a Prohibition-era building that still stands strong to this day. The clientele is a mix of hardened individuals: seasoned resistance fighters who’ve seen the horrors firsthand, ordinary humans trying to scrape by in a world that seems bent on destroying them, and mutants who no longer fit into either camp but have their own reasons for seeking refuge in a dimly lit corner of this once-ordinary neighborhood. It acts as a place of exchange for information, supplies, stories, and alliances. Those looking for work might find connections here, as under-the-table deals are the norm, while others barter in goods or favors, offering a delicate dance of survival. And if you are looking for something hearty to fill the belly, the Irish nachos are a delicacy here.
Gage & Tollner Hospitality
What used to be a restaurant that was lush and plush and suffused with golden hues, has become a battered, crumbling inn. The brass chandeliers have corroded, the cherry wood trimmings have warped and dulled, and the mirrors that lined the restaurant throughout are broken like the dreams of its guests. Still, it is kept up enough to provide a decent night's rest and a warm, albeit basic meal or two. But gone are the perfect cocktails that were once served. The upstairs ale house, The Sunken Harbor, serves patrons deep into the darkened morning. One may not find many polite gestures or the greatest of hospitality here, but they can keep from being on the streets long after dark.
Glowshroom Gallows
These mushrooms emit a faint, phosphorescent light, drawing in both prey and humans in a disorienting glow. The spores they release into the air are highly hallucinogenic and toxic. They can cause dizziness, disorientation, and eventually a death-like stupor, leaving the victim vulnerable to larger predators. The spores are used to treat psychological conditions such as severe PTSD, anxiety, or depression in individuals who are desperate for relief. The fungi have naturally occurring compounds like psilocybin, which has been studied for its potential in treating mental health disorders, and this mutated version enhances that effect.
Iron & Blood
In a world where advanced biotechnology, genetic engineering, and authoritarian control dominate, the traditional craft of blacksmithing persists as a unique symbol of craftsmanship. The smith, known only as Cass, works with metals that are not only rare but altered at a molecular level—elements designed for durability, flexibility, or even enhanced power properties. His hammer incorporates elements of biotechnology that makes it more powerful and efficient when striking. He sells and buys genetically-enhanced armors, weapons capable of responding to the users biology & powers, augmented prosthetics, body enhancements, custom jewelry, and custom crafts for his customers. Being the only smith in Manhattan, Cass has a chokehold on the market and names his price without much resistance from the elite guests that look through his forge. His prices are outrageously high, but his work speaks for itself.
JFK Airport
What once was a bustling airport has become one of the government's primary military and scientific research facilities. The vast terminals and runways accommodate military vehicles, transport of experimental subjects, and even the testing of new biotechnologies. Some of the research involves advanced genetic manipulation, where mutants, plants, and animals are studied, weaponized, or controlled for the government's agenda. The airport has been converted into a massive compound, with a combination of high-security labs, holding areas for mutants, and specialized zones for biological experiments. Given the diverse nature of mutant powers, the airport features advanced containment zones designed to restrain or neutralize dangerous mutants, as well as specialized areas for training military super-soldiers for powers' development and to find potential for future weaponization.
La Cabra
A modernized coffee company that established itself as an international coffee roaster. With a bakery serving outstanding quality in breads and pastries, it is the perfect complement to the coffee bar. The ingredients and raw materials are of the highest quality in order to drive in business from the elite customers that surround their shop.
Lucky Star
The luck is in the name. Lucky Star is relatively unscathed in the dilapidated, decaying Bronx. Whether it's because of its position in proximity to toxic plant life or the amount of protective, regular customers, the Lucky Star is a mainstay. It's also the only general market in the Bronx. It was most famous for its deli and still serves sandwiches, but with more exotic ingredients. The meats are from mutated animals, the leafy greens are from the mutated plant life, and the sauces & seasonings are a mixture from both. With an agreement between the local taverns, they also serve drink to wash down the plethora of exotic sandwich meats. You can't go wrong with this market as it offers foods, rations, adventuring gear, supplies, and has the limited potion or two.
Manhattan East Prep
A prestigious Academy for the New York elite.
Manhattan West Prep
A prestigious Academy for the New York Elite
Many Faced Forest
Many of the trees in the area have grown gnarled and twisted, now resembling monstrous, living statues. These mutated trees have bark that acts as a trap. The tree's surface is covered in a moss-like organism that secretes sticky, sap-like substances. The trees use their trunks to trap smaller animals, drawing them into the branches where their bodies are absorbed by the moss, allowing the tree to nourish itself. In some cases, the moss on these trees is sentient enough to control the movements of the branches, ensnaring any potential prey before it can escape. The moss can be dried and processed to form salves to treat infections or promote healing in small wounds or burns.
McSorley's Ale House
The motto at McSorley's Old Ale House is, "We were here before you were born." Since the business launched in 1854, that's usually true. The golden rule for the bar? "Be good or be gone."
NWO Security Checkpoint - Brooklyn
One of several security checkpoints in Manhattan. The security checkpoints leading into Manhattan under the control of the New World Order are imposing, highly militarized, and operate with an efficiency that reflects the strict control the regime has over the city. These checkpoints are designed to ensure that only those deemed essential or loyal to the New World Order are allowed entry, while the rest of the city—especially the mutated, chaotic parts of New York outside the fortified walls—is completely sealed off. Each checkpoint is guarded by well-armed enforcers clad in black tactical uniforms emblazoned with the insignia of the New World Order. The checkpoints themselves are highly fortified structures, built to withstand both external attack and internal chaos. This is the most heavily fortified of the security checkpoints. Anyone or anything wanting to enter Manhattan from Brooklyn must enter through here.
NWO Security Checkpoint - Queens
Anyone or anything wanting to enter Manhattan from Queens must enter through here.

Neir's Tavern
One of America's oldest and most historic, continuously operating taverns. It retains much of its historical character within the tavern, including the original mahogany bar. It has since been more heavily fortified to defend against the violence and chaos that could erupt beyond it's doors. As a historical landmark, it is well protected by the city's population. They serve some of the best foods in the city out of Uncle Nearest's kitchen.
New World Order Government Tower
The NWO's central HQ for the United States. A tower filled with offices and government supporters, military enforcers, and government funded experiments for the improvement of everyday life. Rumors state that the building has several basement floors that are also for government funded research & development.
Orchard Beach
Where the shoreline of Orchard Beach used to be, seaweed and algae have mutated into vast, floating mats of bio-organisms. These mats are covered in tiny, stinging tendrils that react to heat and movement. Anyone who wades into the water risks being stung by these aquatic plants, their venom causing painful lesions, swelling, and paralysis. Many of the algae have been found to contain compounds that help fight infections, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. Chemists refine or alter the chemical makeup of this seaweed to create an effective, natural medicine for conditions such as joint pain, skin infections, and has even been linked to curing certain types of cancer.
Sacred Groves Apothecary
This apothecary is housed in a repurposed brownstone building, its once elegant structure now weathered by time and the ongoing turmoil. It is well hidden and run by a collective that are skilled in both ancient knowledge of medicinal herbs and the new science of genetic manipulation. Offering both traditional remedies and specialized concoctions for dealing with the unique strains of disease and mutation in this world, there are potions, salves, and amulets sold to protect against both physical and psychic attacks. All are welcome here as long as you are not government affiliated and have the currency to spend.
Sagehaven Apothecary
Sagehaven is a small, hidden apothecary nestled in a rundown corner of Queens, just a short distance from the decaying remnants of Howard Beach. Patrons visit for potions to heal wounds caused by mutated animals—some of the more aggressive creatures that wander the streets—but there are also whispers that she has solutions for much darker ailments, ones that tap into the twisted powers of the plants around them. Inside this apothecary is a sense of quiet defiance.
Segal Jewelry & Curiosities
This store is a prestigious, high-end jewelry store. Segal Jewelry & Curiosities exudes wealth and a sense of timeless elegance. The exterior is pristine, with marble columns and crystal-clear windows. The entrance is guarded by high-tech security as well as military police that patrol the streets nearby, ensuring that the ultra-wealthy elite are never disturbed by the chaos beyond the protective walls of the city. The store displays several exotic pieces of jewelry like exquisite diamonds, rare gemstones, and antique pieces crafted before the apocalypse sit alongside more unusual items. A curious mix of artifacts, oddities, and curious trinkets, many salvaged from the mutated world beyond Manhattan’s walls, also fill the shelves. There are whispers among the elite that the owner and employees of Segal Jewelry & Curiosities may have connections within the New World Order itself, though no one dares to question their loyalty or the source of his wares.
Sunken Harbor
Sitting right above the Gage & Tollner Inn, this bar has a much smaller assortment of drink than the studied drink menu it once served. The nautical and shipwreck themed interior kept it's signature look, for the most part, but the anarchy outside its walls tainted the space's design. Overrun with plant growth, broken boards in the flooring, the bar riddled with dulled, warped dark wood tops & trimmings, and deteriorating colorful scene mirrors the chaos that is just beyond it's doors.
Sunny's
This address has been a bar since 1890, most famously as Sunny’s, as far as anyone seems to recall. Live music used to be the staple here, but as the world changed so did the ambience at Sunny's. Even so, Sunny's is a dive bar that many people still visit as though it is as popular as it once was. The patrons have become a bit more rough around the edges.
TWA Inn
Although it is still considered a stylish and chic hotel next to JFK airport, it has also become an ideal location for one of the government's primary military and scientific research facilities. The vast terminals and runways accommodate military vehicles, transport of experimental subjects, and even the testing of new biotechnologies. As mutants with extraordinary abilities became more prevalent, JFK Airport became a key location for the containment, monitoring, and training of these individuals. Given the diverse nature of powers, the airport features advanced containment zones designed to restrain or neutralize dangerous mutants, as well as specialized areas for training military super-soldiers. This hotel acts as the home to many of the military's enforcers, soldiers, and collaborationists.
The 101
Located in an area where the streets are overrun with creeping vines and the occasional aggressive mutated animal, The 101 has become an essential hub for those looking to survive. The shelves inside are filled with a mix of old-world staples—canned food, medicine, and clothing—alongside more peculiar, locally sourced items. The store serves as a one-stop shop for those in need, whether they’re looking for basic survival supplies or more unique offerings tied to the new environment.
The Campbell
Well-hidden inside midtown's Grand Central Terminal, The Campbell showcases the Gatsby-like former office space of financier and railroad mogul, John W. Campbell. And it looks almost exactly like it did back in 1923. Soaring 25-foot ceilings, a tall stone fireplace, and original leaded-glass windows frame the jewel-toned mohair seating in The Campbell.
The Crumbled Loaf
A small, humble bakery tucked between the ruins of old apartment buildings and the sprawling, mutated greenery that’s taken over the streets. The smell of freshly baked bread, cinnamon, and warm pastries fills the space, a rare scent in this transformed city. The bakery’s signature products include root loaves made from the starchy, mutant roots that now grow abundantly in the area. These roots, though tough and fibrous, are surprisingly nutritious when ground down and mixed into dough, yielding a dense, hearty bread. They also bake pastries with an unexpected twist. They include the mutant berry tarts made from the colorful, glowing berries found in the wilds of Hunter Island. This bakery stands as a reminder that even in the harshest of environments, there can still be a place for the simple joys of life, like the perfect loaf of bread or the sweetness of a well-baked pastry.
The Ear Inn
Over 200 years ago, in 1817, somebody was like, "It would be cooler if we sold beer out of here." The building was originally built in 1770 for George Washington's aid, James Brown. After Brown died, the spot became a home-brew sales depot, then a restaurant, and then a prohibition-era speakeasy. It was given a name in the 1970s. Hoping to skirt the red tape involved in getting a new outside sign approved, they covered the curvy parts of the B in "BAR" so the original sign read, "EAR." It now serves as a place of respite and upscale dining experience for those who wander in.
The Elk
This general store stands as a symbol of both luxury and pragmatic survival. Despite the prosperity surrounding it, the store caters to the needs of the elite who understand the fragile state of the world outside. Behind polished counters, security is tight, with high-tech surveillance systems monitoring every move, ensuring that only those with the right connections or wealth could access its rarest items. The store's atmosphere is a contrast of lavishness and caution. The interior has a hint of elegance, with pristine marble floors and ambient lighting that casts soft glows on everything from nutrient-rich supplements to designer clothing. But for those who know where to look, there are subtle hints of the darker reality outside the fortress—an entire underground black market of unregulated, illicit goods available to the highest bidder, catering to those who reject the control of the elite factions.
The Forge
This smithy stands as a beacon of resilience in the heart of the transformed Queens, nestled among the overgrown streets. The shop itself is a sturdy building, its exterior a patchwork of salvaged metal and stone. It was once a warehouse, but now it’s a working forge. The forge itself is powered by a hybrid of old-world technology and innovative adaptation, using biofuel created from the abundant new plant life. The smiths use the tough, fibrous tendrils of mutant vines to make flexible yet incredibly strong armor, often incorporating enchanted crystals that pulse with energy. The craftsmanship is unmatched, and the blacksmiths themselves are fiercely protective of the knowledge they've garnered. For those willing to pay the steep price or trade valuable goods, they can walk out with weapons or armor that serve as a testament to humanity’s ability to adapt to the most extreme changes.
The Holiday Inn
Nestled in the heart of the city, this Holiday Inn is one of the few locations that blends modern conveniences with a harmonious integration of nature’s resurgence. Inside, the atmosphere is calm and restorative, with soft, earthy tones and furnishings crafted from sustainable materials. The rooms are designed to be energy-efficient, with temperature-regulating walls and air purifiers that filter out pollutants from the altered atmosphere. In some areas of the hotel, trees have grown up through the floors, their roots twisting around the walls as a symbol of the delicate balance between the old world and the new. The hotel boasts a self-sustaining garden where plants, fruits, and vegetables are grown with minimal human intervention. The garden helps to provide a nice spread for the Inn's free breakfast. All are welcome here to do nothing except chill here at the Holiday Inn.
The Hyatt Regency
This Hyatt Regency stands as a modern, sleek structure amidst the urban sprawl. The hotel's modern design contrasts sharply with the unpredictable natural world encroaching around it. While there are creeping vines forming around the base of the building, the Hyatt Regency’s interior remains a sanctuary of comfort for guests. These guests are drawn by its safety and high-end services, but they can never fully escape the tension that hums in the air—the knowledge that, at any moment, the balance between civilization and the wild chaos of nature could tip in a way that no one can predict.
The Inwood
What used to be a bright, modern-rustic sports bar & grill serving American fare and beer, has become a tense, dimmed version of its former stature. Still, it is a welcoming ambience to those who seek refuge from the chaos outside. Everyone knows that violence can erupt at any moment, but the raucous laughter breaks through the silence nonetheless. It holds underground fight leagues to keep patrons distracted and more willing to spend currency there. The establishment still offers a variety of alcohol from it's beer garden.
The Landmark
A favorite of Hell's Kitchen, The Landmark Tavern has been cooking up Irish American bangers and mash since 1868. Now, there's plenty of Guinness, Smithwick's, and their own Landmark Lager on tap.
The Rail
A casual place for patrons to unwind and escape the atrocities that await them in this dystopian version of New York City. Due to its location, The Rail has been mostly untouched aside from the mutated plants and some ambitious sea creatures. Because of this the tavern specializes in serving seafood and has mixed drinks that fit their beach themed decor. It has become a mainstay for fisherman and serves as a meeting point for those looking for work that is of a more discreet nature.
The Standard
The Standard is sleek and futuristic, yet it still retains echoes of classic New York luxury. It is built with towering glass facades and steel-reinforced walls designed to withstand the city's chaotic outside world. High-tech surveillance systems are subtly integrated into the hotel’s infrastructure, with biometric scans and AI-driven security checks in place to monitor and protect the elite guests. Inside, the hotel boasts a grand, multi-level atrium, with shimmering holographic displays, walls of living greenery (engineered to thrive indoors), and art installations showcasing genetic experiments in bioengineering. Guests are greeted by genetically enhanced humanoid robots, programmed with both efficiency and empathy to serve their every need. There is also a strong presence of mutants among the staff, blending seamlessly into the environment, offering an eerie yet mesmerizing atmosphere.
Thorned Vine Thicket
These vines grow at alarming rates, almost as if they’re alive and hunting. The thorns are not just sharp—they have barbed tips that inject a paralytic venom, ensuring prey cannot escape once caught. The venom can be reverse engineered into serums and potions that serve to relieve and manage pain.
Upper East Apothecary
An upscale, world-class pharmaceutical care that promotes whole-person care. This is 1 of very few apothecaries in New York City. It is by far the cleanest, most peaceful apothecaries in New York City with any and all offerings for whole body health.
Wicked Wolf
Formerly an Irish pub in the Bronx, now a bar that specializes in moonshine and fleshroot ale that is brewed from the roots of mutated plants. Rumors have it that patrons with enough currency to spend can buy a concoction made from the blood of mutants. The walls are decorated with faded, hand-drawn maps showing the locations of safe houses, secret passages, and government facilities—drawings done by past patrons who’ve disappeared over time. Not the safest place in the Bronx, but provides some respite and keeps people connected.
Willoughby General
A neighborhood store that has stayed open simply because it was the last general store to be burglarized and vandalized during the change in ecosystem. It serves as the only place in Brooklyn to sell groceries, coffee, bulk goods, rations, some prepared foods, and the occasional curiosity.
