Appearance

A Mind Flayer has a humanoid shape with a pale, purplish skin that is slick and moist. Its most distinctive feature is the octopus-like head, composed of four long, writhing tentacles surrounding a beak-like mouth. Its large, expressive eyes are reminiscent of a predator's, exuding malevolence and intelligence.

Actions

Extract Brain

If the Mind Flayer can grapple a creature that is incapacitated, it can use its action to extract the target's brain, killing it instantly and consuming its intellect.

Psionic Blast (Recharge 5-6)

The Mind Flayer releases a wave of psychic energy in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 16 Intelligence saving throw, taking 27 (5d10) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Tentacle

Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 5) psychic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 15 Intelligence saving throw or be paralyzed until the end of its next turn.
