Grimdark
Set on polluted Vharax-Null, this campaign unfolds within and beneath two colossal Hive Cities.
Author's Note: Vharax-Null is a forgotten frontier world on the edge of the Segmentum Obscurus, once an industrial jewel during the Great Crusade, now a polluted wasteland scarred by millennia of overexploitation.
The largest and most ancient of the Hive Cities on Vharax-Null, Golganneth Spire stretches miles into the tainted sky. It is a fortress-city built atop the bones of a crashed Ark Mechanicus, its foundations infused with forgotten STCs and cursed tech. Its original purpose—research and weapons manufacturing—was twisted over the millennia into sheer production might.
Ruling Golganneth is the Dominatum Synaxis, a collective of ancient cybernetic nobles and tech-barons, half-machine and barely human. They maintain order with vast legions of servitors, hive enforcers, and gene-bred worker clans who live and die in the endless foundries.
Constructed centuries later by a breakaway faction from Golganneth, Morrak’s Rise was founded by a rogue Fabricator-General named Morrak Varn, who sought independence from the Synaxis. Though smaller, Morrak’s Rise is more efficient, colder, and far more militarized. Its upper towers are reinforced with macroplas and adamantium, its infrastructure less corrupt and newer by comparison.
Morrak’s Rise is governed by a militant technocracy known as the Cohort Directive, who aim to one day eclipse Golganneth and bring all of Vharax-Null under one unified, logical rule.
Mistrust runs deep between the two Hives—though they share resources via skyrails and convoys, open war is only ever one assassination away.

Sarnya Krel
Level 3 Human Scavver -
Sarnya "Rivet" Krel is a scarred, one-eyed scavver who works alone in the depths of Hive Primus. Dressed in patched miner’s gear and armed with homemade traps and a stub rifle, she’s known for her quiet focus and brutal efficiency. She rarely talks but always delivers—and no one knows the dead-end tunnels and forgotten crawlspaces better.

appearance
Sarnya is compact and muscular, with burn-scarred arms and calloused hands. Her face is angular and usually streaked with oil or dust, and she keeps her dark hair in tight braids laced with copper wire. Her left eye is milky-white from an old blast wound, but she never replaced it—claims it still “sees the good junk.”
She wears a patchy survival suit built from armored miner gear and cable-webbing, fitted with hooks, bolt clamps, and a shoulder light powered by a solar cell she looted off a midhive drone. Her belt carries a cluster of home-made traps, a short-barrel stub rifle, and a rebreather filter she checks obsessively.
personality
Sarnya is laconic, deeply focused, and values function over flair. She’s not cruel, but she’s not sentimental—she treats scavving like a war zone, not a game. She rarely speaks unless it matters and hates wasting time on politics or petty gang nonsense.
That said, she's respected. She’s one of the few scavvers who works alone and survives it. She trades clean, pays fair, and if you cross her? You’ll find your path back booby-trapped with mines you won’t even hear click.
backstory
Sarnya grew up in a collapsing miner dome, watching her family dig through slag for half-rations. When a rockfall killed her kin, she escaped into the hive’s vent-depths and taught herself to trap, climb, and scavenge what no one else could reach.
She once broke into a sealed Mechanicus waste shaft and walked out with a bag of power cores—and half her hair burned off. Since then, people call her "Rivet"—because she keeps it all together, even when everything else is coming apart.
