What was once a single city has now expanded to most of Faerun in this High Fantasy adventure of magic, technology, and secrets to uncover!

Now expanded and reimagined for deeper exploration and immersive play. Waterdeep: The City of Splendors is your main gateway to the other famous Sword Coast locations like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, the Moonsea Region, and even the distant reaches of the Outer Planes. While Waterdeep remains the heart of the experience, its surrounding territories are available for those bold enough to venture beyond the city walls. This adaptation builds upon official Forgotten Realms lore, but introduces both minor and major changes to support a more engaging and open-ended campaign. For example, the characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 are playable, but have been recontextualized to exist in Waterdeep rather than Baldur’s Gate. Content is designed for compatibility with Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a host of original plot hooks waiting to be uncovered across the city’s alleys, taverns, towers, and catacombs. You’re free to explore at your own pace, shape the world as you see fit, or lose yourself in the layered politics, mysteries, and magic of the world. Description

Protector’s Enclave serves as the administrative and symbolic center of Neverwinter, where governance, diplomacy, and civic pride converge. Guarded streets and public plazas link official halls, military headquarters, and merchant guild offices. Crowds flow steadily through the area—petitioners, envoys, tradesfolk—all under the watch of soldiers and appointed officials. It is a space of order and presence, where the city presents its strength and stability to citizens and outsiders alike.

Appearance

Wide boulevards of clean stone guide traffic through open squares framed by statues, fountains, and banners bearing the city’s crest. Civic buildings stand tall and proud, constructed in pale stone with sharp angles and fortified facades. Uniformed guards patrol in pairs beneath elevated walkways and arched bridges. Trees line the avenues in geometric rows, their leaves turning or bare in colder months. The river glints nearby, a calm ribbon through the structured heart of the city.
