What was once a single city has now expanded to most of Faerun in this High Fantasy adventure of magic, technology, and secrets to uncover!

Now expanded and reimagined for deeper exploration and immersive play. Waterdeep: The City of Splendors is your main gateway to the other famous Sword Coast locations like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, the Moonsea Region, and even the distant reaches of the Outer Planes. While Waterdeep remains the heart of the experience, its surrounding territories are available for those bold enough to venture beyond the city walls. This adaptation builds upon official Forgotten Realms lore, but introduces both minor and major changes to support a more engaging and open-ended campaign. For example, the characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 are playable, but have been recontextualized to exist in Waterdeep rather than Baldur’s Gate. Content is designed for compatibility with Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a host of original plot hooks waiting to be uncovered across the city’s alleys, taverns, towers, and catacombs. You’re free to explore at your own pace, shape the world as you see fit, or lose yourself in the layered politics, mysteries, and magic of the world. Description

The Yawning Portal main floor massive well that descends into the dungeon's depths, drawing thrill-seekers and adventurers alike. Patrons gather to share tales, enjoy hearty meals, and place bets on the fates of those who venture below. A betting board prominently displays odds for parties entering Undermountain, adding to the lively atmosphere. The inn's interior is adorned with trophies from past expeditions, and the smoky air is filled with laughter and the clinking of tankards. As well as a well stocked bar that stands ready to serve with a kitchen in the room behind it able to serve a variety of tasty dishes to it's patrons. On this level, the inn is usually occupied by at least a few patrons at any hour of the day.

Appearance

A vast stone taproom centers on the yawning pit—thirty feet wide and ringed by a sturdy winch. Shadows cling to rafters above as torchlight flickers against trophies of slain beasts. The bar gleams with polish and use, backed by barrels and a smoking kitchen hatch. Tables crowd the floor, thick with gamblers, bards, and adventurers eyeing the well. A chalkboard tracks odds on expeditions below. Noise never fades; ale flows steady, and stories echo through the haze.
