Fables in the Forgotten Realms

T
Tome64

The Forgotten Realms brought to life! Designed for narrative-rich experiences in the Forgotten Realms setting of Faerun's Sword Coast. While the main focus of the world is Waterdeep, locations throughout the Sword Coast and outer planes are available as well! Including Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, The Moonsea, The Outerplanes, and more! What was once a single city has now expanded to most of Faerun in this High Fantasy adventure of magic, technology, and secrets to uncover!

Author's Note: Welcome to The Forgotten Realms Step into one of the most iconic and richly storied worlds in Tabletop, The Forgotten Realms! Now expanded and reimagined for deeper exploration and immersive play. Waterdeep: The City of Splendors is your main gateway to the other famous Sword Coast locations like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, the Moonsea Region, and even the distant reaches of the Outer Planes. While Waterdeep remains the heart of the experience, its surrounding territories are available for those bold enough to venture beyond the city walls. This adaptation builds upon official Forgotten Realms lore, but introduces both minor and major changes to support a more engaging and open-ended campaign. For example, the characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 are playable, but have been recontextualized to exist in Waterdeep rather than Baldur’s Gate. Content is designed for compatibility with Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a host of original plot hooks waiting to be uncovered across the city’s alleys, taverns, towers, and catacombs. You’re free to explore at your own pace, shape the world as you see fit, or lose yourself in the layered politics, mysteries, and magic of the world. This is not a replacement for a traditional tabletop game—it’s a love letter to it. Dedicated to anyone who struggles to find a group and is itching to play. If you enjoy what’s inside, consider supporting the official Dungeons & Dragons books. They remain an invaluable resource for players and storytellers alike—and they make excellent collectibles. Description

The third floor of the Yawning Portal serves as a spillover level for temporary guests—travelers passing through, adventuring parties awaiting coin, or the occasional rowdy group too loud for the second floor. Rooms are modest and uniform, offering little beyond a clean bed, a washbasin, and a small chest for personal belongings. Unlike the private suites below, these chambers are leased by the night and turned over quickly. A few quiet nooks with chairs and tables line the inner gallery overlooking the great well, where guests may watch the descent of hopeful adventurers or listen to the murmur of stories drifting up from the taproom. The furnishings are sturdy but worn, bearing the marks of heavy use and the occasional brawl. Though quieter during the day, the third floor comes alive each evening with the thud of boots, laughter, and doors swinging shut—a transient stop for those with coin and courage enough to rest above the yawning dark.

Appearance

The third floor hums with foot traffic and flickering lamplight. Narrow halls branch from the gallery rim, their wood-paneled walls lined with plain doors. Inside, the rooms are small—cot, trunk, pitcher, nothing more. Upholstered benches and carved stools ring the balcony edge, where guests sip drinks and watch the pit below. The air smells of old ale and fresh linen. Scuffed floors, patched rugs, and chalk-scrawled messages on doorframes hint at a thousand short stories passing through.
