Swift Ryder is the High Commander of the Immortal Flame's Free Brigade, having chosen a path of adventure and service despite his affluent upbringing. As the second son of a Midlander merchant family, he was raised in comfort, but his passion for chocobo racing and swordsmanship led him to join the Immortal Flames at the behest of his older brother, Jakys. After Jakys' tragic death in the Battle of Carteneau, Swift vowed to avenge him and uphold his legacy as a commander, dedicating himself to the protection of Eorzea and the fight against the Amalj'aa.
