Y'shtola hails from the Sharlayan colony in the Dravanian Hinterlands, where she was a student of Matoya. After the threat of the Garlean Empire forced the colonists to abandon their home, she returned to Sharlayan, eventually joining the Scions of the Seventh Dawn after the Calamity. As a representative in Limsa Lominsa, she provides valuable insights and analysis, particularly regarding aetherial activity.
