Charlemagne appears as a vibrant, youthful swordsman with a striking mix of black and white hair, bright sapphire-blue eyes, and a casual, confident posture. He wears a blue-and-white battle tunic resembling a cross between modern fantasy and medieval regalia, with armored shoulders and a flowing half-cape. Despite his casual demeanor, an aura of royalty lingers behind his movements—like a knight pretending not to be a king.

Charlemagne is a free-spirited idealist with a rebellious streak. He values freedom, friendship, and the beauty of standing tall in the face of tyranny. Though not as book-smart as his strategist peers, he possesses deep instinctual wisdom and a heart that resonates with heroism. Despite claiming to not be a “real” king, he still acts with a ruler’s grace when it matters most—always seeking to be someone his people could believe in. Charlemagne doesn't respond well to cold pragmatism or tyrannical attitudes, but if his Master displays idealism, courage, or even just a willingness to do the right thing, he’ll become a stalwart protector. He tends to call them nicknames instead of titles.

Charlemagne, also known as Charles the Great, was the founder of the Carolingian Empire and first Holy Roman Emperor. However, the Charlemagne summoned in the Grail War is the heroic ideal forged from legend, myth, and the romanticized tales of the Twelve Paladins. As such, he’s less the hardened ruler and more the idealized youth of a united Europe’s origin story. Though unaware of many of his real-life deeds, he carries the symbolic weight of a heroic sovereign destined to inspire. His wish for the Holy Grail is to create a future where idealism and unity can flourish, where kings serve their people as symbols of hope and not domination. He wants a world where the stories of great rulers aren’t just stories.
