Ruins of former iron mines that often changed ownership and were rebuilt and destroyed in the past. The tunnels were flooded to prevent further use of the mines. The most recent owner was the Iron Throne who poisoned the iron in the Sword Coast region to make it fragile and break easily to have the monopoly on the iron market. They were defeated by adventurers who also flooded the mines.
A treacherous and abandoned labyrinth of tunnels. After the flooding, these mines have become submerged in water, with the once bustling passages and work areas now silent and still, save for the sound of dripping water echoing through the empty caverns. The machinery and tools left behind by the miners which are rusted and floating debris, a testament to the sudden abandonment. The darkness of the mines is near absolute, broken only by the occasional shaft of light piercing through from a crack above or the bioluminescence of underground creatures adapted to such an environment. The air is damp and heavy, carrying the scent of mold and the minerals washed out by the flooding waters.
