  • Late 1990
    - @The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) first deploys the Mikoyam Guluvich-designed successor to the @MiG-25 Spirt-Voz, the @MiG-31 Plamya-Lisa.

  • 1991
    - Judging the eastward BETA advance to be a national crisis for the @Empire of Japan the Imperial Diet decides to dispatch troops to the East Asian frontline. The Imperial Army forms the Continental Expeditionary Force, and sends a large force of armored units with a focus on TSFs to the front. Despite their efforts, however, the frontline continues to be pushed back.
    - With the prior successful detonation of a G-Bomb during the Morpheus Experiment in 1987, work on making the weapon viable for practical usability begins. @The United States of America (USA) decides to use all of their G-Elements on the production of G-bombs. As a result, there is skepticism over the viability of the @F-22A Raptor.
    - A paper by a 17-year old @Yuuko Kouzuki on her own original theory "Quantum Causality Theory" catches the eye of the Alternative Plan bid committee. To hasten fundamental research on the next plan, she is admitted to the Imperial University's Applied Quantum Physics Laboratory; from then on, together with Professor Kiriyama, they pursue research on the theory testing of what would later become the @00 Unit.
    - With procurement of the @F-22A Raptor running into difficulties, the USA begins the DRTSF (Dual-Role Tactical Surface Fighter) Program to modernize and improve existing @Tactical Surface Fighter (TSF)s to make up for gaps and shortages until the next mainline fighter is deployed. The McDaell Doglam-proposed F-15E and the General Dynomics-proposed F-16XL are both submitted for the plan. With superior armament payload, adaptability to future upgrades, and procurement costs, the F-15E Strike Eagle is officially adopted.

  • 1992
    - Construction of @Dunhuang Hive, Objective 14, begins in China. At around the same time, construction of @Krasnoyarsk Hive, Objective 15, begins in Russia. The sudden eastwards advance of the BETA elevates the sense of impending crisis in the Far East.
    - Operation Swaraj: A counteroffensive operation in the Indian subcontinent, Operation Swaraj, is set in motion to capture the @Bhopal Hive, Objective 13 and restore control of the Indian subcontinent to humanity. Under @United Nations leadership, the @African Union and Southeast Asian nations launch a massive assault. Space forces participate in orbital bombardment and orbital troop deployment; these are thereafter established as a tactical strategy of Hive capture operations.
    - Operation Swaraj: During the operation, Special Reconnaissance Force A-01, under the direct command of Alternative III, enters live combat to infiltrates the Hive Stab of the Bhopal Hive. Attempts at gathering intelligence via ESP reading bear no results, and almost all of their participants are annihilated. After Operation Swaraj, SRF A-01 would continue small-scale reconnaissance missions by taking advantage of any ongoing culling operations to break into enemy territory accruing numerous sacrifices in the Alternative Plan TSF unit.
    - The Asuka Program begins in the @Empire of Japan. Riding alongside the Ministry of Defense's Youkou Program, the Imperial Household Department begins the program to develop the successor to the @Type-82 Kai Zuikaku as the Imperial Royal Guard's next mainline TSF.
    - A large BETA group from the @Dunhuang Hive, Objective 14 begins advancing towards the South China Sea. The @Unified Front of China, the Imperial Japanese Continental Expeditionary Force, and Korean and Vietnamese volunteer armies build a defense line at the Jialing River, flowing north of Chongqing. Though all forces fight hard, exhausted from conducting delaying operations the previous year, the front collapses at the dawn of the new year. Until the refugees have evacuated, the rear guard under the Continental Expeditionary Force Northern Region 7th Division, 71st Tactical Armor Wing, 2nd Tactical Armored Battalion defends them to the last.
    - @The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) first deploys the @Su-27 Zhuravlik. Despite being a 2nd-generation machine developed using the @F-14 Tomcat's technical data, secretly supplied to Sufoni by Grunnan, troubles with the initial model make it unpopular with many pilots. Afterwards, procurement is swiftly terminated with the introduction of the improved @Su-37 Terminator.
    - A young @Marimo Jinguuji forgoes her college education to be a teacher, to enlist in the Japanese Imperial Army. Looked down on as a woman volunteering into a man's occupation, she butts heads with her peers and instructors. (It is later revealed that her male peers didn't want the idea of female conscription to be normalized.)

  • 1993
    - BETA gain total control over mainland @Europe. With the collapse of the Northern European front that had continued to resist to the end, the @European Union GHQ declares a complete withdrawal of all forces and the abandonment of Europe. After this, the European nations establish forward bases on the islands off the coast of the continent, so as to continue culling operations in preparation for a future campaign to reclaim Eurasia.
    - Construction of @Chongqing Hive, Objective 16, begins in China. Despite a fierce defensive action mounted by the @Unified Front of China and the @Empire of Japan's Continental Expeditionary Force, the fierce assault of the oncoming BETA forced them into a retreat.
    - Operation 9-6: An ambush operation by allied Chinese and Korean forces to annihilate a large BETA group heading towards Dalian, China, at the coast near the Korean border, is carried out. Although the @Empire of Japan's Continental Expeditionary Force participates by supporting from the flank, two battalions are destroyed in a surprise BETA attack. Afterwards, the invasion of Dalian is avoided by the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons; the main force of the Imperial Army is forced to temporarily withdraw to the riverbank at Harbin. The losses taken during this operation, however, are enough to further weaken the frontline.
    - Rising to a squad leader position just after training, @Marimo Jinguuji and her unit's first deployment is to China to assist in the defense for Operation 9-6. Saved from a fatal blow during the BETA's surprise attack by a peer she frequently argued with, and discovering the rear of his TSF vaporized, Marimo flies into a frenzied rage, charging the BETA like a mad dog, fighing until rendered unconcious. Later waking in a field hospital as the lone survivor of her squad, she is sent home and transfered to an @Instructor unit and resolves to make the pilots she trains be able to survive just even one second longer, her pesonal atonement for surviving the "8 minutes of death" at the sacrifice of her squad.

  • Early 1994
    - The BETA group proceeding south from Kashgar gains complete control of the Indian subcontinent. As a result, the eastward BETA momentum increases, and the @Unified Front of China is caught in an inescapable dire situation. The armed forces from nations that had lost their territory to the BETA are later incorporated under @United Nations military command.
    - The Imperial Diet of the @Empire of Japan, backed by the previously-revised Military Service Law, passes a bill to lower conscription age. Mobilization of student volunteer soldiers restricted to duties in the rear begins, the reason being the increasing number of years the BETA War was dragging out to be.
    - The @United Nations calls for preliminary plans for Alternative IV, in order to replace the stagnated Alternative III. The @Empire of Japan, @Canada, and @Australia announce their candidacy for the bid to host the 4th Alternative Plan. Each nation begins preparation for the required personnel and equipment, working to secure the bid in order to increase their international presence. The bidding race grows into a political issue between the UN Security Council permanent members; Japan, in particular, locks horns with Chinese and Soviet misgivings over having an Imperial Japanese-headed Alternative IV, as well as with the USA's own political goals. In turn, Japan is backed by Canada, Australia, and an Australia-supported @United Kingdom in their efforts to win the bid to host Alternative IV.
    - The 20-year-old @Yuuko Kouzuki, invited by the UN, advances the verification of quantum causality theory.
