00 Unit
A one-of-a-kind, artificial human being, for use with the XB-70 Susanoo in accordance with Alternative IV plans. The specifics are unknown, but it is suspected that it was possibly created through advanced cybernetics. The goal was to develop a system of communication using a recovered disembodied brain from the recapture of the Yokohama Hive. By placing the brain in a purely synthetic body, the BETA shouldn't recognize her as a carbon-based life form (which they don't believe is truly life).
BETA - Laser Fort Class
Combining the strengths of both Fort and Laser classes, this strain has never been confirmed, but is rumored to exist. Sporting double the legs of a standard Fort class, a more potent, sickly green corrosive stinger, and what appears to be three heavy lasers on its back, this is the first BETA strain to incorporate physical and long range combat into one. Unlike the other forms of Laser class, the Laser Fort will shoot through allies if it is advantageous to do so. Exercise extreme caution.
BETA - Carrier Class
Capable of high-speed underground movement via large-scale excavation of its surrounding, this 176 meters tall, 1800 meters long and 176 meters wide strain can carry an extremely large number of other BETA strains inside of it. It is capable of resisting even battleship fire, making it one of the toughest variants ever encountered, though it has only had one confirmed sighting and engagement. Extremely rare, but confirmed and suspected to exist in some number from late stage Hives.
BETA - Fort Class
At 66 meters tall, 52 meters long and 37 meters wide, the Fort class is the largest of the main strains; because of their size, a TSF would require 120mm cannons or close-combat weapons to cut these behemoths down to size, with great care given to specifically target the sections in-between the three segments of its body for maximum stopping power. It can brutally attack with its ten legs, and has a corrosive stinger on a retracted tentacle with a range of 50 meters. Can carry smaller strains.
BETA - Destroyer Class
16 meters tall, 18 meters long and 17 meters wide, the Destroyer class is used against humanity's mechanized forces. They have extremely tough frontal armor in the form of a partial body carapace, with hardness 15 on the Mohs scale in front, surviving most frontal attacks. They are predictable in that they will always charge opponents, but their slow turning ability makes them extremely vulnerable from the rear. 36mm is an easy kill to the rear, and even infantry shoulder fire weapons can work.
BETA - Grappler Class
Grappler-class measures 12 meters tall, 19 meters long and 28 meters wide, is armed with two extremely tough forearms, with hardness 15 on the Mohs scale, which they use to batter enemies to death, and can also act as shields against poorly aimed weapons fire from the front. While not particularly fast, the Grappler-class is considerably mobile and nimble in combat, and is capable of turning to face a different direction quickly. Like a tank sized scorpion. Makes up 60% of all BETA engagements.
BETA - Heavy Laser Class
Towering over the Laser-class at 21 meters tall, 15 meters long and 11 meters wide, their large size affords some protection against 36mm cannon fire, necessitating the use of 120mm cannons; even then, a quick kill is only possible with a direct attack on its laser-emitting "eye" when it is not closed; its only physical weakness. Effective down to a mere 500 meters high and over 100 km with 36 seconds between shots. Just like the smaller strain, never firing into allies. Not in small Hives.
BETA - Laser Class
At 3 meters tall, 1.2 meters long and 1.6 meters wide, the Laser-class BETA are some of the smaller anti-TSF units, and are lightly armored enough that they can be easily taken down with heavy machine guns. Their giant eyes fire lasers that are effective against targets of up to 10 km high and 30 km from where the Laser-class stands, with 12 seconds in-between each shot. They never fire into allied strains and effectively ended air dominance of humanity. Not normally produced in small Hives.
BETA - Tank Class
At 2.8 meters tall, 4.4 meters long and 1.9 meters wide, infantry weapons are effective against them, but while it is lightly armored and classified as an anti-infantry unit, the Tank-class has gained notoriety as the smallest physical anti-TSF unit the BETA have; their physical strength and jumping abilities are prodigious and their powerful jaws can bite through metal, concrete, and even super-carbon, and have the capability to reach 80km/h even on uneven terrain. Always in large groups.
BETA - Soldier Class
At 2.3 meters tall, 1.2 meters long and 1.4 meters wide the Soldier is the smallest strain of BETA encountered on Earth. First spotted in 1995, the Soldier-class has little to no capability against mechanized units, and is solely anti-personnel; it has the highest personnel detection capability amongst all BETA, arm and jaw strength several times that of an average human's, and is able to maintain relative silence during movement. Can be killed by similar means as any human.
BETA - Warrior Class
At 2.5 meters tall, 1.7 meters long and 1.5 meters wide, the Warrior-class is one of the smaller strains of BETA, having high detection capability in the anti-personnel role, but ineffective against TSFs. As they are extremely lightly armored, even handguns and rifles are effective on them. However, it is hard to actually hit them due to their agility, and once close, their single trunk-like arm has enough strength to easily pull a human's head off.
BETA (Group)
The BETA, Beings of Extra Terrestrial origin and Adversarial to the human race, are a group of seemingly unrelated species and specimens that seem only unified in their unyielding animosity towards humanity. The BETA landed on Earth in 1973 after years of conflict on the moon since 1967. In the many decades since, new strains have since appeared in different engagements around the world. When TSFs were first fielded, the life expectancy of pilots was only 8 minutes, the "8 minutes of death".
Human Esper
Products of the Soviet led Alternative III program, Espers are extremely rare. Deemed a failed project after countless suicidal expeditions into the Hives in attempts to communicate with the BETA. Visually, they are indistinct from normal Humans, though they might have bleached or even platinum hair. Espers were genetically optimized and artificially grown to have telepathic abilities in the hope it would allow Humanity to communicate with the BETA. Most are loners, shunned for their abilities.
Human
Humanity as we know it comes from all walks of life and all creeds. We have many cultures and beliefs and we fight often, whether through differences of those cultures and beliefs, or because of a lack of resources, or even due to perceived differences of race. Humanity's global population since the ongoing war with the BETA has cratered to under 50%, roughly 3 billion worldwide, leading to drastic actions in the ongoing fight like the conscription of women and even children to a certain age.
